X-5 "M" Class - worth the price by Beamer from PA on 05/28/2013. Trim: 2013 BMW X5 M, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Awesome vehicle. I love driving this SUV. The power is unbelievable, looks great with the "M" trim. The sound of engine and exhaust system turns heads and everyone knows it's special. Ride is great. I have owned X-5's 3.0 and the "M" class is way above and beyond in all areas. Will only buy "M" class going forward.
Cons: Not as large an interior as you would expect.
Overall review: This is the Ultimate Driving Machine

It's not for everybody but I like it. by Touring John on 07/13/2013. Trim: 2013 BMW X5 xDrive35i Premium, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Very solid after 8000 miles with no mechanical or electrical issues. Good acceleration, turning and braking for such a large vehicle. It is a BMW and carries the DNA. Visibility is excellent. 8 gears is enough for any occasion and it's fun to make it earn it's keep but it will drain the gas tank when you push it. The X5 in any trim just begs for it.
Cons: BMW does not recommend rotating the tires and the oil is good for a year. I guess that's how it goes when the manufacturer covers the maintenance. Brake dust on the wheels and gunk under the tail-pipes are on-going problems. 17 city and -at best- 24 highway MPG is a dinosaur killer. I know they're already dead but you get the point.
Overall review: After getting used to the gadgets, I wonder how I ever backed up or parallel parked without sensors and the top-view camera. The stock stereo rocks but I would have liked to get the upgrade to 600 watts. Taking it down the highway during a driving rain storm, the big Beemer felt well planted to the road and was undisturbed by cross winds and overtaking semi-trucks. It lives up the the ultimate driving machine hype. The courtesy lights on the door handles are a wonderful touch. It should have the turn signals on the mirrors and next year's model gets that. It makes driving fun or at least tolerable. Is it worth 20 to 30 thou$and more than an American or Japanese equivalent? If you only have room for one car and want a sporty, roomy, prestigious, road holding AWD brute and can accept a little compromise in the ride department, yeah, this thing will do that.

Vroom by John on 05/06/2013. Trim: 2013 BMW X5 xDrive50i, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Excellent engine. Sounds and drives like a sports car. 5.0 engine is amazing.
Cons: Some of the features related to the iDrive seems redundant. Turning the bluetooth audio off if I plug in another through the external audio seems counterintuitive.
Overall review: I use to own the 2008 X5 3.0 so this was a huge step up. I test drove the 3.5, diesel and then the 5.0. If you want the best sport car like experience, go for the 5.0. Driving at the speed limit is the most difficult thing to do in this car. I've driven 125 mph with ease. Had alot more to give. I just didn't want to get arrested. :)
