Finally FORD is getting into the act!
by Kilibreaux on 06/26/2012.
Trim: 2012 Ford Focus Electric Electric.
21
Pros:
It's 100% electric! That means: No GAS, no OIL, no coolant, no radiator, no filters, no exhaust system, no oil changes. The "engine" (motor) has exactly ONE moving part - compare that to a reciprocating mess that is only "refined" in the sense that we've been stuck with it for so long, it has "evolved" into something usable yet still terribly INeffcient.
Cons:
Nothing! Well, the PRICE could be lower because that would put more buyers in the seat earlier. I'm not sure if the pricing schedule is part of the overall "scheme" of the oil-dominated auto industry to "play like" they are seriously marketing alternative vehicles to gasoline, while pricing them just high enough so a year or two down the road when sales are lackluster they can cancel the vehicle and claim, "See, we told you nobody wanted electric cars!"
We hear all about how expensive are the batteries for these cars yet everyone seems blissfully ignorant to all the STUFF left out - not needed. Electric motor tech is not new, and neither is any other part of what goes into an electric car.
Overall review:
Wonderful execution of a GREAT idea for the future!

Look, it gets it done and puts the Middle East in a position to be very afraid. We can develop better batteries and will in time.

Pros:
I like the fact that we are building something that will make us less depended on oil and gas. Ref. to recommendation - we should buy and support this type of car only if they can afford it.
Cons:
The price is too high. on one hand the the people who can afford this car is might not have that much of a problem affording the gas their using for the car they have now. The people who might not be able to afford the car, it would help them to keep money in their pocket due to the high gas. Why do we make things that will help people at the gas pump, but would not affect their pocket much, and put it out range in term of price for the people that it would help the most. Solar energy is the same way. Just think how it people who don't have much money.... You see my point..
Overall review:
We will never rid our depended of oil and gas at this rate with these high prices.

Pros:
It is all electric. Would make a good vehicle for city dwellers.
Cons:
Wouldn't be worth much in the intermountain west. Depending on the amount of charge time needed, we could not make a round trip to the closest shopping mall in less than 2 days, providing we could get someone there to let us charge it up.
Overall review:
Depending on what you need it for, it is either the bomb or an expensive toy.
