The finest car for the price by Danthrax on 10/25/2006. Trim: 1997 Jaguar XJ6, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Styling is the same as a later model XJ8 save for the bumpers, looks like an exponentially more expensive car, you get quite a few looks from passers-by, fantastic value all around, looks good when you are 22 driving a jaguar
Cons: None whatsoever
Overall review: Bargain exotic luxury car that'll surprise you with reliability

Unbelievable Value!! by MF from Tempe on 06/29/2003. Trim: 1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas, Owned 2 years.
Pros: I love the fact that the leather in my VP is the same as in a Bently and Rolls...impeccable!! The fit, finish, and overall quality of this vehicle is astounding!! The stereo is better than my old 'S-Class' MB as is the air conditioning and arm-rest cup holders. Much more of a distinctive, less-common look than the MB or BMW. The back seat room (long wheel base) is unbelievable...almost like a limo.
Cons: If you don't think about what you're going to do with your feet before you slide into the driver's seat you'll get them tangled in the foot pedals. With the full sized spare tire taking up so much room in the back the trunk space is somewhat limited. The turning radius is not as tight as the MB or BMW. Front-end alignments can only be performed by Jaguar technicians.
Overall review: Since Ford made some serious changes in the electronics (switched to Bosch parts) in 1995 this brand of vehicle has gone from #18 in quality to #2--right behind Lexus (MB is #10). My advice to anyone interested in purchasing in the near future is to BUY USED!! The rest of the world still thinks these cars are 'maintenance nightmares' so they depreciate quickly! The XJ Series is an awsome value for anyone who wants what British Royalty ride in. But...purchase an extended warranty with the car. They are somewhat expensive to maintain (but very seldom break).

She's Purrrrfect and performs like the big cat that it personifies! by Robert - Seattle, WA area. on 08/23/2004. Trim: 1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Just as the name Jaguar implies, the ride is very quiet, smooth and supple, with quick acceleration, agile handling, and stops with authority. And she does it all in the grandest of style, luxury and comfort! What's more, the leg room is phenomenal. What can I say? She's purrrrrrrfect!
Cons: The cruise controls are in a slightly awkward location, and the fast forward/reverse control button on the [awesome] Harmon Kardon stereo took a little getting use-to. But I have adapted. She's still purrrrrrrfect!
Overall review: If you want the ultimate in style, comfort, performance, and value, look no further. I'd purchase a Jag over a MB, BMW, or Lexus any day.

Turning heads... by JagDriver from Central Michigan on 05/02/2004. Trim: 1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas, Owned 1 year.
Pros: In a town of 25,000 nothing turns more heads than a car like this! It's comfortable, beautiful, distinctive and performs well. Everything about the car is top notch. I was fortunate to pick mine up this past winter with only 16,346 original miles! I have no regrets thus far.
Cons: Some of the controls are a little tricky to operate while driving and the power windows seem to be a bit on the slow side on their way up. It's not as fast as my Cadillac STS, but it boasts better fuel economy and looks nothing like the cookie-cutter STS ;-)
Overall review: This is a beautiful car that is a pleasure to own. Jaguars have an unmistakeable design. The 1997 model year represented the best of Jaguar engineering and style with the assurances of Ford quality control. I couldn't be happier!
