A good CUV well equipped at a reasonable price but poor mpg by manteiv on 09/11/2012. Trim: 2013 Kia Sorento LX FWD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Good looking CUV, one of the main reasons I bought it. I have the LX 2.4 GDI, 5-seater with plenty of cargo space and the place underneath the trunk cover is huge and can store things that needs to be hidden. The quality of the paint and the assembling of the interior components are impeccable. The car drives very smoothly without any rattles and handled with confidence. The road noise and engine noise of my 4 cyl version is not an issue. The standard equipement list is quite complete even with the base LX trim. Huyndai and Kia have improved significantly in the last few years and the build quality of the Sorento seems as good as any Japanese or American brands.
Cons: The real life fuel economy is nowhere near the posted specifications by Kia which is sad because they give you false expectations. I get 17-19 mpg real life fuel economy in the city (vs 25 advertised) and 25-26 mpg on the highway cruising at 60 mph (vs the 38 advertised). The numbers by the EPA is 22/32 are less optimistic than Kia's but nowhere near what I have. I regret not buying the V6, if you can afford the extra cost, go for it. The 4 cyl is too short in power for not much more fuel economy. My last minor complaint is the base sound system is not very good, it sounds terrible in fact, despite the fact that it has 6 speakers.
Overall review: Overall a well equipped vehicle for the same price as the competitors which offer less options. The quality seems solid and the vehicle drives very confidently.

A Solid Value in the Compact/Midsize CUV Segment by Wagon Lover on 08/18/2012. Trim: 2013 Kia Sorento SX AWD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: () Great interior space in a relatively compact package. () Upscale interior and features unmatched at the KIA price point. () Excellent acceleration from a strong V6 engine in a AWD vehicle () Good steering feel and solid handling () Hill descent and hill holding features missing in most vehicles at this price () All wheel differential lock for deep mud, sand, etc. () Open "airy" feel with dual sunroof/moonroof
Cons: () Option "packages" are not ideal. No V6 and AWD without seven passenger seating, for example. Moonroof only available with nav system. () Nav system significantly outdated compared to portable units. () Power rear lift gate would be nice. () Ride a bit rough, a consequence of the solid handling, I suspect. () Rear window and rear pillars create significant blind spots compared to some competitors. () Third row seat is cramped but no worse than other compact/midsize competitors. () No option for sliding second row seats
Overall review: Considered a number of replacements for a 2004 Saab 9-5 wagon with the same interior space, handling, and power in an AWD vehicle with better ground clearance for winter mountain driving. They're few and far between for less than $40K. Ultimately, the choice came down to the Subaru Outback and the KIA Sorento. Though the Subaru came closer to the car-like feel of the Saab, the comfort, features, open feel, and solidity of the KIA was the deciding factor. I never thought I'd purchase a KIA and I resisted a CUV/SUV with their usual "truck-like" handling, as well. But competitors like the Toyota Venza and Honday Crosstour just didn't compare. The Acura TSX Sportswagon and the VW Jetta TDI sportswagen both lost out for lack of AWD. The Honda CRV was under-powered (compared to the Sorento) and lacked features. The RAV4 had no rear A/C for the dog and kid. Volvo, Audi, Lexus, and Infiniti added at least $10K to the bottom line price with no obvious benefit other than the badge on the hood.

Poor Gas Mileage! by wlv1963 on 09/04/2012. Trim: 2013 Kia Sorento EX FWD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: I purchased a 2013 Sorento with a 4 cylinder Eco system engine for the basic fact that the window sticker advertised 22 city/36 highway gas mileage. I drive 50 miles/day round trip to work and am experiencing less than 21 mpg highway! When I called the service manager at the dealership of purchase, I was simply advised to contact KIA corporate as they could not do anything to assist me. I otherwise love the vehicle, but would never had prucahsed it I had know I would receive such poor gas mileage!
Cons: Gas mileage-lack of pick up
Overall review: Nice vehicle overall.
