Great Mid-Size SUV by RF in Erie, PA on 05/02/2012. Trim: 2013 Ford Explorer Limited 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Good looking. Comfortable and upscale interior. Second row captain chairs ease access to the third row. Handling and performance are very good for a mid-size suv. No problems or defects after one year and 11,000 miles. I've owned the X5, ML320, and 4Runner - the new Explorer compares quite well in all aspects to these competitors.
Cons: The touch screen can get dirty from use - this can also make the screen difficult to read depending on the daylight/glare. And yes, the original My Ford Sync was a bit ponderous/slow at first. But Ford mailed a new software upgrade about three months ago and it fixed all of the delay/slowness issues and it updated the graphics and menu options/graphics - very impressive.
Overall review: A good family SUV and a great value that is built in the U.S. Lots of upscale and technological features. Is it a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover, Lexus, etc.? No it probably doesn't meet or surpass these vehicles in most categories - but it comes pretty darn close. And, to get a three-row, medium/large suv from these manufacturers, you'd have spend at least $15k more (probably $20k). So if price is a factor when you compare suvs in the $35-45k range, give the Explorer a look. It impressed (and continues to impress) me.

2013 Ford Explorer by Bob - Boston, MA on 05/30/2012. Trim: 2013 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The fit and finish are beyond compare. The interior w/ leather seating is plush and comfortable. The Ford Sync works like a charm and is easy to use. This will be my 6th Explorer starting back to when they were first introduced, and Ford has hit a home run. Everyone who see's the truck absolutely loves what Ford has done to the Explorer. Wider, longer, handles like a dream and the 290HP V6 has more than enough get up and go whi9le still getting great mileage. Kodiac Brown mettalic w/ sand leather interior. 34K off the lot new.
Cons: No dislikes.
Overall review: Worth every penny spent. Much nicer than any Chevy, dodge, Nissan, Toyota or Honda in it's class. Like riding in a very well equipped Lincoln Town car. The 202A package puts you into LIMITED land and the truck can be had w/ leather, moon roofs, Sync, tow package, heated seats, etc. for about 10K less than a limited with the 203A package without sacrificing many luxury options at all. All that's mising are the cooled seats, forward and side looking radar Sony radio and rear center console.

First domestic in year - very happy overall. by Wooley on 09/23/2012. Trim: 2013 Ford Explorer XLT FWD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Love the styling, comfort, space, technology, fit and finish, and smooth ride.
Cons: Acceleration with V6 is adequate but hardly blistering. Some rear facing child seats don't fit in second row seats.
Overall review: We bought the Explorer to accomodate our expanding family. We also looked at the Highlander, Pilot, Durango and Traverse. We went with the Ford because of its styling and the technology. Overall, we've been very pleased with out decision. The car rides very nicely, the seats are comfortable and the auto box shifts very smoothly. Whilst others have reported problems, Sync has worked well for us. The interior seems very well put together and (to my eye) is of higher quality materials than either the Toyota, Honda or particularly the Chevy. The Durango is actually pretty nice inside as well. Only downsides are that the acceleration is merely adequate with the V6 (I wouldn't recommend the turbo 4) and fuel economy a little disappointing at 16 / 17 mpg in mixed urban and freeway driving. Also, one of our child seats (a Britax) doesn't fit behind the front seats when rear facing. Our other seat (a Mazi-Cosi) is fine so I'd recommend you check this out if its important to you.
