It's NOT for sale by John from Oakdale, CT on 10/17/2008. Trim: 1998 Isuzu Hombre XS 2WD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: Great gas mileage 400+ on a full tank. Acceleration is good. Quick off the line and getting up to speed is not a problem. Handles like a car.
Cons: Needs more power for getting up the steep hills. If you're going to change the plug wires, make sure you need to do it. Otherwise let them be.
Overall review: I've owend this truck for 8 years. It's easy to keep up. Starts every morning. Bought it used, don't know why the guy sold it. Runs great. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Lucky number 7 by Big B on 02/16/2005. Trim: 1998 Isuzu Hombre S 2WD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: 7 years of virtually trouble free use. Excellent mileage; although I don't seem to be getting as much as most of the other reviews I've read here it does very well. Handles well too. Other than routine maintenence (oil & filter, spark plugs, etc.) it is very reliable. 170,000+ miles of predictable, dependable and comfortable service.
Cons: I4 with 5 speed is a little under powered. Poor A/C controls. Unreliable GM wiper control board.
Overall review: I love my truck! I bought it new in late '97 and have put over 170,000 miles on it since then. I'm 6'-1" tall, and found the competition to be designed for "smaller people". Not so with the Homre. It has plenty of leg, head and shoulder room. And is quite comfortable on long trips. It still has the original engine, transmission, clutch and rear brakes. However the rear differential did need to be replaced at 96,000 miles due to poor GM bearings. With the extended service plan this was a covered repair. I have found that with regular maintenece and care this has been the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. I would definately recommend the Hombre to anyone interested in a dependable light duty truck.

Solid, dependable pickup by Worm from Tucson AZ on 03/01/2004. Trim: 1998 Isuzu Hombre XS 2WD, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Nice looking, dependable truck with a good paint job. Identical to Chevy S-10 and GMC Sonoma for less money. Very plush interior. Gauges include, tachometer and real gauges, not "warning lights". Solid ride. Rides like a big pickup. Handles well for a pickup. Ride is better than comparable models manufactured by Ford, Mazda, Dodge and Nissan. With standard ABS it "stops on a dime".
Cons: Could have been equipped with a more powerful engine although, A reprogrammer (cost $300) made the engine rev better which improved acceleration and allows pickup to go faster than the factory govener that limited top speed to about 93 MPH.
Overall review: A great pickup for the money!

Isuzu by Sam on 10/08/2003. Trim: 1998 Isuzu Hombre S 2WD, Owned 5 years.
Pros: I like this truck a lot. No major problems since I bought it 5 years ago.
Cons: I bought the regular cab and could use a king cab for a little extra space. I heard that Chevy will discontinue its S-10 version, and Isuzu dropped their pick up line.
Overall review: Easy to operate and fun to drive. It is still a simple designed engine that you can take care of on your own. Driving this truck is a lot of fun. Mileage averages around 30 on hwy and 26 when I drive it everyday. Comfortable seating arrangement. Well over 200K on the small 4 cyl. engine, and it runs problem free.

Sports Truck by Fun on Wheels! on 02/07/2003. Trim: 1998 Isuzu Hombre S 2WD, Owned 4 years.
Pros: It is a nice truck packaged deal. Feels like a much larger truck. I am 6' 6" and have plenty of room in the cabin.
Cons: They don't make Isuzu P.U. anymore.
Overall review: It is a great small truck for the money. Trouble free, great mpgs, fun to drive, roomy cab, lots of leg room and very comfortable bench seats. It is like driving a sports car with a pick up bed.
