Great truck by Marlin from Wisconsin on 06/23/2003. Trim: 1996 Isuzu Hombre S, Owned 7 years.
Pros: Fun truck.
Cons: It was rearended the other day. A total loss.
Overall review: Fun truck, no problems. I had nearly 298,000 miles on it. Great small truck.

Gerbil Power by Fishy Stuff on 05/19/2002. Trim: 1996 Isuzu Hombre S, Owned 3 years.
Pros: After 65,000 miles, it still has a smoothness to the ride. The air conditioner still blows cold. It still looks new. For putting around town, it is great
Cons: The gerbil-powered motor under the hood needs lots of help going up hills. There just isn't any pick up to the motor. But for some strange reason it seems to have extra power when the bed is loaded down.
Overall review: If you pull out in front of someone, just pre-pare to get hit!!! Be sure and turn the Air-conditional off anytime you might need a little extra power.

Takes a lickin' but keeps right on tickin' by Jennifer from Louisiana on 12/10/2002. Trim: 1996 Isuzu Hombre XS, Owned 5 years.
Pros: great on gas; cute; roomier interior than most small trucks; takes a lotta abuse (especially with towing); has been dependable except for 2 times in Alaska (before I bought a block heater, the engine froze); roomy bed for hauling stuff
Cons: has never been good on hills and has gotten worse with age as the tranny has loosened, couple problems that dealers have had to fix (warranty leaky seal in rear differential, recall windshield wiper motor, stuck brake part - caliper?), some small trim parts have broken (sliding-glass latch, seat-adjuster handle), plastic bumpers crack easily on impact with lightpoles (haha)
Overall review: Initially skeptical when we popped the hood and saw the GM logo(same thing as an S-10), but this has been one tough little truck. Bought '96 model new as a closeout in Jan '97, now has 146k miles from 50-mile daily commutes, a couple trips across Texas and around the West, and a trip on the Alaska highway (pulling a heavy Uhaul trailer) and around Alaska (pulling a heavy camper trailer). I am amazed that this truck keeps on ticking! Would buy another one new, but they jacked the prices up since we bought it.

Get Another Truck by A CarPoint Consumer on 04/05/2002. Trim: 1996 Isuzu Hombre XS, Owned 6 years.
Pros: It still looks good, fairly comfortable for a small truck
Cons: Reliability. Problem areas are broken slave cylinder on clutch, air conditioner, rear axle makes grinding sound, recall, burned out water pump, burns about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles, and some other small problems. It's about the slowest truck on the road and you feel like you are about to fall out of the door when going around a corner.
Overall review: I can count on spending a few hundred dollars a year on keeping it running. At least it is cheaper than a car payment.
