Perfect single person's SUV / Not a good fit for families
by GC on 08/20/2012.
Trim: 2012 Audi Q7 3.0T Premium quattro, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
The 3.0T Premium Plus with cold and warm weather packages is a wonderful driving machine. It has incredible acceleration and handling for such a small engine loaded into a tank of a vehicle. Styling, the vehicle is extrremely eye catching and the car also gets better than average gas milage compared to other cars in its class. The contols and displays are well placed for easy acces and visibility.
Cons:
Audi has some serious catching up to do on the interior and convenience features of the vehicle. Cooled seats are not an option. Independent climate control is a waste of money because everyones control kicks on if one person adjusts theirs. There is no option for truely indenpendent controls in fact even turning the seat heater on turns on the air conditioning (what?). The rear hatch has electronic opening without electronic closing. The memory seat buttons need to be held to go into position if your key memory gets reset so forget about just pushing it once to get into position. The air conditioning vent noise is loud and annoying although the radio does compensate nicely.
Overall review:
The interior is cramped for such a large vehicle and does not allow for storage or luggage especially when the third row option is used. The seats are not as comfortable as the BMW X series SUV's and they do not have as many adjustments to give proper leg support on long rides. As it turns out, the features that are most annoying about this vehicle are consistent throughout the Audi fleet and are not constrained to the Q7. Overall I like the Q7 and I love driving it but I am afraid unless Audi redesigns their climate controls and in car comfort/conveniences I will have to look elsewhere when it comes time to trade up. I am afraid that the all of the Truth in Engineering went into the mechanics of the car because several of the human factors in engineering were overlooked.
