"PHENOMENAL SUV FOR THE MONEY!"
by IMPORTED OWNER CONVERTED TO DOMESTIC DRIVER IN WASHINGTON, DC on 03/25/2012.
Trim: 2012 GMC Terrain SLT-1 AWD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Have a 2012 SLT-1 AWD since 01/12. This vehicle has great overall interior & exterior design, great handling, turning & response in stopping. Does not feel like an SUV (smooth like a luxury car). Have the optional 6 cyl. engine & my avg. mpg is within 2-3 mpg of mfg. estimates. Have optional chrome package w/ 19" tires, auto. start, auto lift rear cargo door, heated seats w/ lumbar support. Vehicle is well thought out w/ details down to accent red cording on the black interior. Electric sunroof is quiet like the ride. Good job GMC! Import vehicle guy but this SUV changed mind. Great color resolution display panel w/ camera. All touchscreen. Overall great SUV for $. No disappointment! A Buy!
Cons:
Nothing, except no power seating on passenger side of vehicle! However, I believe it is optional with the SLT-1 or comes standard in the SLT-2. Outside of these items, negligible difference in the two vehicle!!
Overall review:
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR!! GREAT POWER FOR A 6 CYLINDER! CONVERTED AN IMPORTED OWNER TO A DOMESTIC ONE WITH THIS VEHICLE! I LOVE THIS SUV AND SO DO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!

I'm Trying Again
by Surfman44 Cape Cod on 04/17/2012.
Trim: 2012 GMC Terrain SLE-2 AWD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
I Will Say I am Rating my 2010, SLE-2, 4 Cyl. 1st. Year Production for the Benefit to Others. Steering & Handling are Excellent. Exterior & Interior Appearance is Sharp. Pioneer Premium Sound System is Great.
Cons:
Seventeen Transmission Mis-Shifts From 2nd. to 3rd. gear in the 27 Months I Have Owned it. Six (6) of Them Being Bone-Jarring Scary! Crackling Through the Front Speakers With the Radio Off! Power Lumbar Support Broke (Snapped) the First Time I Needed & Used it! Door Chime Stays on for Hours. Side Mirror & Rear Window Defrosters worked Twice in 25 Months before They Came Out With a Computer Program, as They Also Did for the Transmission Shifting Problem. Gas Milage is Far From What They Claim.
Overall review:
I'm Getting a 2012 This Week From GM With Their Buy-Back Program. Hopefully, All the Kinks are Corrected! I'll Get Back to You in Six Months or so.

Take my word for it!

Pros:
Style. Size.
Cons:
Where do I begin? In the shop 4 times in last 10 months for substantial amounts of time after buying it brand new. GMC won't loan me a rental. Transmission has acted weird from the beginning. Now it won't shift out of first gear. A friend bought one. Her motor went out in a month. Hers was new. AC went out on mine. Both side speakers went out. Quit while I was driving down the road. Emergency lights quit working (found that out when the car quit). Sometimes it just won't crank. The gas mileage is a joke. I get 21 in town and hwy if I'm lucky. They must be paying people to write good reviews. I've yet to meet a person who has one that hasn't had complaints.
Overall review:
Save yourself the headache... Buy a Toyota. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that I haven't been satisfied with or had problems for that matter.

Easy going family transportation
by Joe from San Diego on 09/13/2011.
Trim: 2012 GMC Terrain SLT-1 FWD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Great ride and handling. The new screen on the dash for the backup camera is great. Very easy to see what is behind you. The leather seats are attractive. The upgraded Pioneer sound system works great. The sunroof and power lift gate make the car much more enjoyable.
The 4 cylinder engine and 6 speed automatic work really well together. Very smooth shifting. The onstar turn by turn navigation works perfectly with easy to follow directions both on the screen and verbally. Having the screen on the dash board makes it easy to use the radio, phone and navigation features.
Cons:
The cloth seats are rough in feel. To get the window sticker gas mileage of 22 city and 32 highway you have to be very easy on the gas pedal. Let the vehicle gradually accelerate with very light pressure on the gas pedal. It will get to speed and shift to save gas especially with the eco mode selected. If you get heavy on the gas pedal the engine moves to the higher rev range and the gas mileage drops dramatically.
The engine has variable valve timing and direct ignition. So at the lower RPMs with very light pressure on the gas pedal you get outstanding economy for a large vehicle. But when you need power its there in the higher RPM's but the gas mileage will drop.
Overall review:
Nice combination of features, comfort and economy. Great road car as well as practical family transportation.
Excellent brakes and steering. Lots of safety features. Has manual shift option so you can shift into lower gears to get engine braking going down hills. Engine quiet at all speeds. Very little road or wind noise in cabin. Has active noise cancellation system that really works.

Weak GMC
by Mark in Ohio on 02/17/2013.
Trim: 2012 GMC Terrain SLE-1 AWD, Owned 1 year.
2
Pros:
Updated electronics, handles well in the snow.
Cons:
No power in 4 cylinder, does not get mpg as promised, head lights not bright enough, inside and outside materials feel cheap and the shell does not feel solid.
Overall review:
We had this vechicle for 10 months and never could get past the weak performance. We actually had a small "green" car pull away from us on a hill and we just could not get this suv to pick up. We wanted to stay with a domestic SUV and we feel GMC let us down. We now have a Audi Q5 that is light years ahead of this GMC.
