A Disster Waiting to Happend by Jeanne Watson on 04/10/2012. Trim: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Our 2011 T6 AWD is a super car except for one thing, City Safety. I would not buy this car again due to the ongoing isssues we have endured and Volvo's inability/unwillingness to deal with this problem.
Cons: City Safety, which is a an accident waiting to happen in our view. In our experience, we have had unexplained braking interventions over 30 times in less than 12 thousand miles. We have had seveal situations when the car simply slams on its brakes for no apparent reason...... a real safety hazzard and we feel simply a matter of time before we are "rear-ended" in this car. Volvo says there is nothing wrong and car is performing to specificaitons. Sorry guys, wrong.
Overall review: A great car that is a safety hazzard due to City Safety.

Great Car that Needs to be Driven to Be Apprecaited by Woody on 12/07/2010. Trim: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Delighted with our new S60. We drove the Audi A & S 4's, BMW 335Xi and the M-B 4Matic. The best drive of the 5 cars is the S4 but it also very costly. In our mind the second best was the S60 for much less $$$'s (neither my wife nor I have myopia so could see beyond BMW) The S60's seats are fabulous, the drive train (excepting the tranmssion) are as good as it gets, the Active Bending Lights are wonderful....
Cons: Much, if not alll of the electronic safety detritous should be left at the factory. It is costly and really a pain to live with. The Premium Sound package is not great. The standard media centre is good. Would love this car with a dual clutch transmisison> would put it into Audi S4 country. Ootions are not cheap.... ABL's should be standard.
Overall review: This is a really good, if not great (time will tell) car but you have to be discerning and be willing to put up with "why did you not buy a BMW"..... frankly, we liked this car better than the Audi A4 or the BMW 335Xi as did the two car nut couples we took out on our 'car search'. This is a vehicle that deserves to be 'heard' and needs to be driven to be appreciated.

Beware of City Safety Problems by Roger, on 04/16/2012. Trim: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD, Owned 2 years.

Pros: The T6 AWD powertrain is great. Would be fabulous with a twin-clutch transmisison. Seats are great, ABL wonderful and the paint quality super.
Cons: City Safety. We have had continual issues with this feature activating and braking the car without warning at low speeds. Our S60 has had at least one software upgrade to try to deal with this problem which others have described as an accident waiting to happen. Radio/Navigation: very slow to operate and many functions are not logical. Premium Sound is a waste of money.
Overall review: I would not recommend the S60 to anyone after our negative experience with City Safety and Volvo. Do not see this as anything other than a safety hazzard and doubt anyone would with any common sense. Imagine driving along at 10 mph and, for no apparent reason, the brakes on your car are suddenly and fully applied..... this is City Safety in action. You might then think about the person behind you and how likely they are to tail-end your vehilce..... this is what City Safety could do to you. Without City Safety, this is a decent, comfortable, rather stylish car with a few quirks (but not a SAAB)....

A really interesting alternative in class by Jeanne From Toronto on 12/01/2010. Trim: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: 1. Drive: Throttle response is great and acceleration is robust from any speed that is near legal. Ride quality is very good, with super brakes and adjustable feel power steering. 2. Fuel Consumption: Great. 10% less than our S40 3. Controls: well placed & effective. 4. Quality: Build quality seems very good with generally super materials. Some disappointment with the door panels. 5. Front Seating, Room & Comfort: Simply the best seats in class. Visibility is good and getting in and out easy. Head and leg room are plentiful. 6. Cargo & Storage Room: Iinterior storage is very good with a number of small areas. The S60 has a real glove box that can be used for storage.
Cons: 1. Noise: Try cars with + without BLIS at 50 -70 mph to gauge your tolerance to this noise. Engine noise is minimal. 2. Rear Seating: access is easy but headroom is tight. Legroom suffers if the front seats are pushed back. 3. Trunk Space: small for a car of this size 4. Media Center Software & Premium Sound: Media Center (radio, Bluetooth for hands-free operation of mobile phones et cetera) software has serious deficiencies. Our dealer has told us about “fixes” that are coming but after three weeks of ownership our radio system still has no upgrade. No sure how a company has the audacity to ship cars with software that clearly does not work!. Premium Sound is disappointing.
Overall review: The re-designed S60 is not a German sport touring sedan, it is a Volvo. It offers a blend of enlivening performance/handling with a very good interior combined with the safety features one has come to expect of the Volvo Brand. This is not the play it safe Volvo of yesteryear but is a well designed sports sedan that is fun to drive and you will not see a duplicate every time you turn around ala Audi, BMW et cetera. Trunk hinge is archaic. Why they did not use the same sort of hinge that is used in the S40 and the A4 is perplexing as it would have made the trunk somewhat larger. Compared with the Dynamic Sound in the S40, the S60’s Premium Sound is a real disappointment.

Accident in the Making? by YYZGuy on 09/14/2012. Trim: 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD, Owned 1 year.
2
Pros: Great on snow, comfortable seats
Cons: City Safety Feature. Our car continually brakes for no apparent reason. Our dealer reported to Volvo and they really have done nothing other than to tell us the car is fine. It is not. In 15k miles we have had over 25 activations of City Safety for no apparent reason. This is an accident waiting to happend as sooner or later someone will rear end us, like the police car that almost did several months ago when the car braked for no apparent reason.
Overall review: Great car except City Safety spoils the ownership experience. it seems others are having same problem as Volvo does have a software upgrade for the problem which as not worked for us.
