Best Handling SUV by Driver, California on 12/26/2011. Trim: 2011 BMW X5 xDrive35d, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: Power, acceleration, handling, stability, no-BS understated design that will last, quality materials, thought-out ergonomics and features. The diesel has been frugal for the car of this weight: 20-21 mpg in the city, 27-28 mpg on the highway. The car always feels very composed and in control of the road. For a car of this size and weight it is impressive that it stays true to its BMW traditions.
Cons: Expensive options. The car overall could be good value (<50K), but with a few extras could easily top 60k. Also, watch out for all the "extras" dealers are trying to
Overall review: Very impressed with a diesel. There is never any lack of power, it has a pleasant growl to it and it is a lot more efficient than the gasoline 3.0 turbo. BMW America had a $2,500 credit on any diesel car in 2011, which tipped me over in my decision, and I do no regret it!

Classing up the way this soccer-mom rolls by Catharine on 09/25/2011. Trim: 2011 BMW X5 xDrive35d, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: This is my 4th and I absolutely love everything about this vehicle. Every time I walk to the car I find myself admiring it, I never seem to get tired of the BMW….
Cons: My radio isn’t loud enough… all the extras are a bit complicated to figure out…I think I need to spend a week in the car reading the owners manual. I'm also so protective I don't want to drive it because I don't want anyone near it....
Overall review: I’ve only owned the car for 3 weeks but as I said this is my 4th and overall I would recommend this car to anyone.

Best of 3 Beemers I Own by flwink on 08/03/2011. Trim: 2011 BMW X5 xDrive50i, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: This is my second X5. I had the 4.8 2008 & this is a much more 'refined' car. It just feels better, handles as well & with the new 8 speeed tranny it starts addressing what I criticized in my '08 review, mpg. This car has 50 more HP & 100 more Torque lbs but I just got 22+ mpg driving to & from Chattanooga last week. This is up from 18-19 range with the smaller 350hp-350 t lbs 4.8 motor. Its quick, agile & the only thing to know that the 20 inch rims need tire replacement at 20k. Be sure to keep an eye on them wearing 'evenly'. You may have to take it in for a balance & spin. This isn't covered with the 4 yr warranty. Cost me $200 for both items from the dealer.
Cons: No dislikes per say... The rims get 'brake dusted' quickly. They have to be washed weekly to look nice. Two weeks & they are dirty. I can't take my wife in it 'cause I drive a bit aggressively. I take the Z4 or the new 328. I test drove the 528 & I do miss driving a 'car'. It reminded me of my 7 series but not as big. Sticker was $51K. Not bad for a car that can handle 300K miles easily.
Overall review: Better mileage, faster & refined when I needed it. Great ride for long distance driving. I look forward every morning & evening driving to work & home. The hood & side lines are masculine & improve with each rendition. The BMW car hood lines for 2011 & 12 are really aggressive!! It cost the same as my '08 4.8 decked out. I would like to drive an M to see what a 150 more hp & 100 torq lbs would feel like. I enjoy owning the X5 & mostlikely will buy another one in a few years. I will always own a BMW or three.

Dinan X5 50i Scary Fast and Fun! by Noushy from Detroit on 05/22/2011. Trim: 2011 BMW X5 xDrive50i, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: I have the ///M Sport model with the beautiful ///M body parts and wheels. Love the cinammon leather and aluminum trim. The acceleration is amazing for such a heavy truck. It is my 3rd X5 in a row and the most reliable one yet. No service issues.
Cons: Gas mileage could be better but what do you expect for a Dinan tuned 510hp truck. The ride is a little jittery but much better than the old sport package. Not quite big enough to be a full size SUV but too big to be a compact.
Overall review: Just a fantastic SUV, and the one to consider when handling, braking, and overall vehicle dynamics matter to you. The service is first class and included for the first 4 years and 50k miles. My dealership treats me like family and I would buy another vehicle from them just for the service.

BMW what else? by Toney on 01/03/2011. Trim: 2011 BMW X5 xDrive50i, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: The BMW X5 5.0 is exemtly agile, responsive, braking
Cons: I have not found anything yet. Still trying to find something I dislike
Overall review: The 2011 X5 5.0 with its new design is leaner quicker and more responsive along with its braking and all the technological goodies one can imagine makes this machine tough to beat.
