Great Vehicle if your deaf or want to be!!!!
by SteveG from Indy on 02/23/2012.
Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
I really like the styling of interior and exterior. Sporty styling on the outside, luxusrious on the inside-leatherette. Seats are comfortable for long drives.
Cons:
This car is extremly noisy on the inside, probably something wrong with the car itself but dealerships (several) continue to say it runs as designed. Highway driving is painful with average sound of 90 decibels, after a long day of driving my ears hurt and i'm exhausted. I had heard for a long time bad things about VW service, I didnt believe the rumors, but believe them now, dealer service is awful. If it looks like too much work or they are not sure, my experience has been that they are "unable to duplicate customer concern" and be done with it. I did not have issues with Accord or Camry.
Overall review:
I use this vehicle for business, spend 8-10 hours a day in it and hate most every minute it's running due to road noise, exhaust noise, drivetrain noise. Again, most likely could be fixed if the dealerships knew what they were doing.

BUY SOMETHING ELSE !!!!
by Thomas from central PA on 02/12/2012.

Pros:
Bought this 2011 and a 2009 sedan tdi for the mpg's. Got 38 as an average and loved the way they drove. Traded the 2009 on this 2011 and was happy with resale value. Traded this 2011 on a new Nissan Maxima SV because of problems and dealership service issues.
Cons:
Had trouble with the brakes and the door skin falling off on the 2009. Loved the 2011 but had water in the spare tire area since new. Selling dealer "could not duplicate" got to love those words on the repair order at 10k service. They did a recall on ecm without my permission and it never ran the same and stalled very easy.
20k service the other dealer found the leak and set up date to repair and fixed the ecm update by finishing the repair. The selling dealer never set the values in the ecm.
23k leak is still there and now engine has a miss when cold. This time they had it for two weeks damaged the car and lied to me. Volkswagen offered me a $1000 dollar voucher to buy another vw. NO!!
Overall review:
Vowed to not own another vw after my 1980 vw rabbit diesel pickup. Traded both of these after only 24,000 miles on each.
Dealers need to treat their customers better and VW needs to stand behind their products with warranty coverage like some other oem's. I wanted to trade the car in and the saleman wasted my time by letting me stand in the snow for hours looking for a new car and then telling me that I would have to come back weeks after I get my car repaired. I never want to feel that way again. I was there to buy a car, sell me a car and make me feel that you need my business.
I went back four days later to pick up my repaired car and the roof had four scratches an inch or longer down to the primer. VW had them replace the sunroof and the sunroof frame. I tried again to trade the car and they low balled me.
I went to the local Nissan dealer and was treated with respect and honesty. I drove away with a Maxima the next day and will not be shopping VW again.

Diesel FTW!
by martiansoldier on 07/01/2011.
Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Fuel efficient, costs less than its competition, fairly well equipped for its price, spacious and loads of torque.
Cons:
Would have loved if it had full power memory seats.
It's sad that the stealership's that sell these cars have very little experience with Diesels and do a very poor job when the cars are brought in for service. I should also mention that most service writers that deal with these cars at the stealerships have no clue about them.
Overall review:
With less than 3000 miles on the odo, I've already gotten as many as 42 miles per gallon and looking forward to more. It is a fun car to drive when compared to the boring hybrids.

Nice transportation
by Dutch in Chicago on 05/17/2013.
Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
My 2011 Sportwagon has 34000 miles and has had very few issues and constantly obtains 38-42 mpg on the highway at about 65 mph. A good solid feeling car with nice ammenities
Cons:
Front seats are difficult to get in and out of. Deisel fuel is now more expensive then gas and the mpg actually doesnt equal the cost savings of the car/fuel.
Overall review:
Very nice car, roomy and so far very dependable. Handles well in the snow but need some additional equipment (intergrated garage door opener, remote start, keyless entry system). Costly for maintenance.

Excllent highway crusier
by Mert Indio Ca on 11/15/2012.
Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
I have owned my Sportwagen for two years and have 41000 trouble free miles. If you drive alot of hwy miles this would be a good choice--if mostly around town you will have better results with a gas job due to the complexity of the diesel emission system which works better at hwy speeds. This car is a great hwy car with excellent handling and engine response. The brakes are excellent and wear very well. The styling is very nice as are the interior appointments.
Cons:
The cost of service at VW can be high due to special oils and procedures and some dealers tend to charge more than other dealers.
Overall review:
This an excellent car only for those who understand the car and its purpose.
