Great Vehicle if your deaf or want to be!!!! by SteveG from Indy on 02/23/2012. Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I really like the styling of interior and exterior. Sporty styling on the outside, luxusrious on the inside-leatherette. Seats are comfortable for long drives.
Cons: This car is extremly noisy on the inside, probably something wrong with the car itself but dealerships (several) continue to say it runs as designed. Highway driving is painful with average sound of 90 decibels, after a long day of driving my ears hurt and i'm exhausted. I had heard for a long time bad things about VW service, I didnt believe the rumors, but believe them now, dealer service is awful. If it looks like too much work or they are not sure, my experience has been that they are "unable to duplicate customer concern" and be done with it. I did not have issues with Accord or Camry.
Overall review: I use this vehicle for business, spend 8-10 hours a day in it and hate most every minute it's running due to road noise, exhaust noise, drivetrain noise. Again, most likely could be fixed if the dealerships knew what they were doing.

BUY SOMETHING ELSE !!!! by Thomas from central PA on 02/12/2012. Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Bought this 2011 and a 2009 sedan tdi for the mpg's. Got 38 as an average and loved the way they drove. Traded the 2009 on this 2011 and was happy with resale value. Traded this 2011 on a new Nissan Maxima SV because of problems and dealership service issues.
Cons: Had trouble with the brakes and the door skin falling off on the 2009. Loved the 2011 but had water in the spare tire area since new. Selling dealer "could not duplicate" got to love those words on the repair order at 10k service. They did a recall on ecm without my permission and it never ran the same and stalled very easy. 20k service the other dealer found the leak and set up date to repair and fixed the ecm update by finishing the repair. The selling dealer never set the values in the ecm. 23k leak is still there and now engine has a miss when cold. This time they had it for two weeks damaged the car and lied to me. Volkswagen offered me a $1000 dollar voucher to buy another vw. NO!!
Overall review: Vowed to not own another vw after my 1980 vw rabbit diesel pickup. Traded both of these after only 24,000 miles on each. Dealers need to treat their customers better and VW needs to stand behind their products with warranty coverage like some other oem's. I wanted to trade the car in and the saleman wasted my time by letting me stand in the snow for hours looking for a new car and then telling me that I would have to come back weeks after I get my car repaired. I never want to feel that way again. I was there to buy a car, sell me a car and make me feel that you need my business. I went back four days later to pick up my repaired car and the roof had four scratches an inch or longer down to the primer. VW had them replace the sunroof and the sunroof frame. I tried again to trade the car and they low balled me. I went to the local Nissan dealer and was treated with respect and honesty. I drove away with a Maxima the next day and will not be shopping VW again.

Diesel FTW! by martiansoldier on 07/01/2011. Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Fuel efficient, costs less than its competition, fairly well equipped for its price, spacious and loads of torque.
Cons: Would have loved if it had full power memory seats. It's sad that the stealership's that sell these cars have very little experience with Diesels and do a very poor job when the cars are brought in for service. I should also mention that most service writers that deal with these cars at the stealerships have no clue about them.
Overall review: With less than 3000 miles on the odo, I've already gotten as many as 42 miles per gallon and looking forward to more. It is a fun car to drive when compared to the boring hybrids.

Great Highway Car by Carrie L from Chicago on 10/11/2013. Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Nice styling, 40K on odometer and still feels tight and new. GREAT highway cruiser that always gets me 40 mpg at 65-70 mph. Large sunroof with great sounding stereo.
Cons: Needs more equipment that other vehicles have. I.E...Intergrated garage door opener, full power seats, alarm, remote start, key locks on both front doors. Although it gets very good mpg, the vehicle cost, higher cost of deisel and higher than average repair and maintenance costs fail to make the diesel choice cost effecient. Dealerships also need more training in servicing diesels.
Overall review: I really do love this car and plan on having ownership until 200k. At 40k current mile it still rides and feels like the day I bought it. I am not sure if I will buy another one due to the afore mentioned cons. Overall great highway car where I drive 75% of the time.

Really Fun but Could Be Great by Terence on 07/16/2013. Trim: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen 2.5L SE, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Beautiful styling inside and out. Nice finish especially the interior. Seats were comfortable but a tiny bit narrow, I am a broad-shouldered guy though. Handling was excellent. Really, Really FUN to drive. Blue tooth connectivity great for phone and listening to iPhone/Pandora music. Loved, the panoramic sun roof. Easy to load and haul my kayaks.
Cons: Traded a Honda Ridgeline line in for my gas engined Jetta expecting better mileage. Surprisingly it got just a few more mpgs. Cruising range was exactly the same, about 250 miles per tankful, and I hate stopping to fill up. Car was a little underpowered. Braking was not as good as I thought it would be. At about 10K miles, transmission started making a barely audible, weird metallic grinding sound when first starting out, could have been a VW thing but I never felt comfortable with it. Went in for an oil change at 16K miles and watched the technician pull the totally wrong oil filter from the engine. No one could explain how that had happened. Not crazy about VW dealerships.
Overall review: Despite the negatives this would be a great second car for those who can afford one. I was sad to let her go but I needed a car I felt more confidence in.
