A solid ride
by joseph96 on 03/07/2003.
Trim: 1997 Infiniti J30t, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros:
Very reliable, comfortable. Smooth with adequate power. Great ride and handling, once we went to Pirelli tires for wet control. Awesome brakes. Never intended to keep it from new this long, but it is too good to get rid of. Unique styling.
Terrific dealer support.
Cons:
Original tires were tractionless in water-hydroplaned. Original bose radio replaced twice under warranty.
Overall review:
Excellent

Nice sporty sedan
by StevieB from Florida on 01/13/2001.
Trim: 1997 Infiniti J30, Owned 3 years.
1
Pros:
The J30 accelerates nicely and is a handsome automobile. The interior comfortably seats four. The rear seat is especially comfortable. The anolog clock adds a nice touch of sophistication to the dashboard, and the walnut trim in the center of the dash compliments the interior trim. Quality of materials used throughought the passenger compartment is impressive. Good Bose sound system.
Cons:
Poor gas mileage. Too much outside/engine noise is allowed into the cabin. I have had recurrent problems with the engine timing, significant vibrations and excessive smoke from the exhaust. The car has a tendency to "fishtail" when maneuvering around corners if you accelerate aggresively. The trunk is much smaller than one would expect, but it is deep. Vehicle depreciates quicker than I would like.
Overall review:
Overall a car with nice lines and ample power. Unfortunately, Infiniti discontinued this model and has not replaced it with another model to compete in the entry level luxury/sports sedan category.

J30t - nice touring vehicle
by A CarPoint Consumer on 12/05/2000.
Trim: 1997 Infiniti J30t, Owned 3 years.
1
Pros:
Smooth ride in the city and better on the road at between 60-70 mph. Very reliable vehicle. Logical, easy to read display. Very comfortable upfront. Rear wheel drive has more accurate response than most front wheel drive vehicles.
Cons:
Not as quick as it should be from a dead stop. Small back seat leg room. Small trunk room.
Overall review:
Above average overall. Wish Infiniti still made this model!

Classy, comfort and Bose speakers!
by JB from Durham on 01/14/2008.
Trim: 1997 Infiniti J30, Owned 9 years.
Useful?
Pros:
With regular maintenance this has been a trouble free car. Great comfort, excellent over the road car and the Bose speakers are awesome...even after the 10 years I've driven it!
Cons:
Could use a little bit more trunk space. Not a good vehicle for ice/snow. Rearwheel drive is a bit over powered.
Overall review:
Great touring car. Would buy again.
