Pros: Easy to get in and out of the car for older riders.
Cons: Air conditioner is too loud and have to turn off to talk to riders in car and have them hear you. Not much talking when it is hot.
Overall review: Nice car and Subaru is helpful with any questions or concerns about the car.

Pros: Gas mileage Looks
Cons: The rear hatch window does not open.. Owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee before and the open window was great. Talked to other Subaru owners and they had the same feeling. Placement of the 4 way emergency button......

Great dog car by IM from Walnut Creek, CA on 06/03/2013. Trim: 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i, Owned 2 years.
Useful?
Pros: Not too big compared to the other small SUVs out there. Checked out Honda and Toyota small SUVs could not justify the additional expense. There is good interior room for (2) 400 dog crates and (1) 300 crate. Be sure to get the rubber mats instead of carpet! The AWD has come in handy in the rain and mud, I don't drive in the snow. The heated seats warm up quickly. Stock stereo system is good, although as much as I am in the car I probably should have sprung for the upgrade. Radio/stereo dials easy to reach w/o fumbling. I really like the new parking brake system. However, be prepared to explain how to release the parking brake, the push/pull concept is lost on some people. Backup camera great
Cons: The emergency light button is too close to the shifter. The fabric seats and door panels are wearing thin after 2 years, they stain easily and I have dogs. I am thinking of upgrading the interior to leather. The glare on the brushed metal can be blinding. I HATE the speedometer, come on, an inch for 20 miles of speed? It is not safe for 35 or 45 mph in city traffic. The handling could be more nimble, I feel like I am driving a truck at times. In all due respects to the car, though, I am used to Saabs so this car has taken some getting used to. The gas mileage was disappointing until recently, now I am getting a combined 24-25 with 29-32 on the hwy (CVT) so I am pleased with that.
Overall review: I would encourage most people to check the Outback out for themselves. As I said before, the one thing that I hope the company addresses is the speedometer as the numbers are too close together. If I bought it again (hopefully I will have this car a long time) I would buy the leather interior and probably the bigger engine as the little engine is a bit noisy for my taste. Otherwise, the prices are good, the exterior colors are great, the dealers are wonderful, the financing was easy and better than what I could get elsewhere. Just one more request...how about a power liftgate? Also, this car is made in state of Indiana, not overseas. Check it out
