problem car by edward from wisconsin on 04/11/2001. Trim: 1995 Hyundai Elantra Base, Owned 2 years.
Pros: good mileage and descent interior
Cons: you have to wait 4 months to recieve parts through the manufacurer. i and most of you dont have that time to be out of a car. it was bad. and now my oil is leaking and im out of a car again. it has been 1 month now and i still dont have it back. i guess the part has been remanufactured. it just has been a waste of time. dont buy
Overall review: cheap

"Crap'n out a little at a time" by moma2babyleo From Idaho on 05/02/2006. Trim: 1995 Hyundai Elantra SE, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I liked the car for about 2months and after that I have had nothing but bad luck with it ever since, I have had the engine rebuild and have had it back about 3 weeks and i am having more problems with it
Cons: all of the doors on it a messed up and dont open right they stick and backdoors only open a special way like the child locks are on it backwards ,don't lock either, enginee rebuild and new problems but no problems with transmission yet, all the way around it is a bad car.
Overall review: will never own a car that is not a chevy, and i can't wait to get this car gone out of my life

Transmission Hungry by Jeff in Odessa, Florida on 04/29/2004. Trim: 1995 Hyundai Elantra GLS, Owned 8 years.
Pros: Decent gas mileage
Cons: I have replaced the transmission 3 times. Constant leak in front drivers tire (regardless of tire rotation--must be a bad rim). Slow acceleration. Sits too low to the ground--I'm a big man and it's hard to get out of the car. Car maintenance prices is outrageous--dealers are a real rip-off. Several air conditioning problems and wiring is screwy. Engine burns oil after 75,000 miles--not good.
Overall review: Fairly satisfied; however, car needs better transmission and engine.

The Perfect Car...To Take a Bat To by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/24/2004. Trim: 1995 Hyundai Elantra Base, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The styling still holds up after nine years, and the ride is refined considering the car's price range. Decent handling and a fairly spacious interior are also good points of this car.
Cons: This car has been nothing but problems since I recently pirchased it with just over 105,000 miles. Within 2 DAYS of ownership the courtesy light didn't work, the front door will not close completly, and worst of all the transmission blew (that's gonna cost me).
Overall review: After having two other Hyundais this one surprised me. My 1994 Excel never had any problems beyond a dead battary and that had nearly 100,000 miles on it when I got rid of it, and the 2003 Elantra that replaced it hasn't had any issues at all yet either. I suppose every car company cranks out a few pieces of garbage, and I'm afraid I have one such piece of garbage.
