Beware of the 80,000 transmission by An MSN Autos Consumer on 03/16/2005. Trim: 1999 Honda Odyssey EX, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Love the styling, comfort, auto doors (when they work) stowable 3rd row, wear of upholstry.
Cons: The doors would have a seizure from time to time which would have resulted in multiple visits to the dealership, but a kind person there showed me how to 'reset' by pulling the fuse and replacing. (hint, hint) The TRANSMISSION is another story. We bought the van at 23000 miles and noticed a thunk 10 seconds after going into reverse. Mechanics couldn't trace problem. 20000 miles later a flare showed up in 2nd gear. By 75000 we had been round and round with Honda USA and Honda Canada because--BUYER BEWARE: IF you buy a Canadian model in the US...Warranties do not apply!!! (they will tell you that safety warranties will get fixed--fried tranny isn't very safe to me-stuck in traffic!)
Overall review: If the customer service had been kinder and not so snide at the corporate level, I may have given them another chance. But being stuck with a car I bought for the fine name and reputation and having it fall far short with no recourse because of where it was built, that was too much. The DOA Honda was traded in on a beautiful new TOYOTA at an incredible loss.

A Real Flop by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/07/2010. Trim: 1999 Honda Odyssey LX, Owned 8 years.
Pros: The rear seat folds completly flat, middle bucket seats easy to remove. Cruse control very nice, transmission shifts smootly when it works
Cons: Horrible transmission design. We are on our 3rd transmission and it only has 120,000 miles. Honda replaced the first one on its extended warranty at 99,000 and the 2nd transmission only lasted 20,000. I had to buy the 3rd transmission.
Overall review: Not recommended because of the poor transmission

The all van by Chaz from PA on 07/16/2008. Trim: 1999 Honda Odyssey EX, Owned 6 years.
Pros: This has been by far the best vehicle we have owned. 150,000 miles on the van and still going. Honda took good care of us when we have had problems. Multiple uses for the back with seats out. Plenty of room with seats in or out. Able to carry 7 people. Great for trips with long distance involved. Room for the driver to stretch out and be comfortable. Lots of small storagespaces to have when needed. Low maintenace bills most of the time.
Cons: Programing on side slide doors gets messed up sometimes. Transmission problems. Replaced by Honda free of charge. Minor electrical problems.
Overall review: Some minor problems but overall an excellent van for the price.

A Good "Starter Minivan" by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/13/2008. Trim: 1999 Honda Odyssey LX, Owned 1 year.
Pros: The overall body styling and apperence make it timeless it never loses it shape, like the other minivans on the market esspacaily G.M, Ford and Crysler you can tell the body styling loses it shape very fast. The resale value is far much better too, it does not dipreshate like the big 3.
Cons: When stoping at a red light you can feel it takes a bit of time when stopping even with the ABS, and you have to be very gentle when putting it in gear you have to feel the transmission. Many Honda Odyssey owners complain about the Transmission acting up that's because your slicing the gears to fast if you take your time you wont have transmission problems.
Overall review: Like with any minivan take it easy!!
