Great overall package. by Sergey, Carlsbad CA on 07/08/2009. Trim: 2009 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 Grand Touring 5-Door, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Very fun to drive! Interior quality is much better then expected in a vehicle priced in the lower 20s. Take it on a test drive, you'll have a blast and won't be wanting to look at anything else. I would say it's the best overall package in this price category. If you do get it, consider getting a Cold Air Intake for it as well, it adds 20 more horses and torque, plus better milage and turbo whoosh sound for about 300-500 bucks depending on where you get it installed. The glove compartment is huge. It's doesn't scream for attention due to looks that are very similar to the regular Mazda 3, so that's both good and bad, depending on what you're looking for.
Cons: Could use a couple more color choices. Next year model's exterior design is Not the most mod friendly of vehicles. It's been out for 3 years now and people have only been able to get about 100 extra horses from it. Some of the modded cars blew their engines as well, and Mazda seems to like to void warranties if they notice any mods or if you don't have perfect service records. Also some users reported turbo smoking at Idle...
Overall review: Great overall package. Fast and comfortable, decent sound system on the GT trim. Interior is awesome. Milage is decent (I'm getting 25 avg). Not the best car for the tuner though.

Fun, Fast & Fabulous! by Daz from Boston on 06/15/2009. Trim: 2009 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 Grand Touring 5-Door, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This car is Fast, Fun and Fabulous! I'm a big WRC fan and really wanted to get my first Subaru WRX but then my wife found the Speed3 on line. I took the Mazda Speed3 for a test drive and was hooked. Easily out accelerates larger "muscle" cars and the drivers are always shocked when I see them in my rearview mirror after overtaking them. Can hit 60 while in second gear. The manual 6 speed gearbox is a perfect. You can also easily coast along at 30 in 6th gear because of the abundance of torque. Black is especially cool looking. Nice fat tires and large 18" wheels really finish it off along with a subtle rear spoiler and larger chrome exhaust tip. These give a taste of its true character.
Cons: Nothing - maybe would have been nice to have a sunroof as an option.
Overall review: I-Pod/MP3 connects through center consol as a standard feature and the 9 speaker Bose system is awsome. Leather trimmed bucket seats are very comfy and hold you well during tight cornering. Fuel consumption is good considering the way you drive these cars, I average around 28 miles per gallon. Great performance for a really affordable price. Out performs larger and more expensive cars. A great example of a performance Hot Hatch which is also a great every day drive.

This IS the car to own. Mazdaspeed3! by Phoenix Mazdaspeed3 on 06/06/2009. Trim: 2009 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 Sport 5-Door, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: This is the funnest vehicle to drive that I have ever owned. The styling is perfect for what I was after. Not too flashy but has a very sporty, refined look. And suprisingly turns a lot of heads driving down the road. Mazda did not skimp when building this car. If you want fun, power and performance and a classy appearance, The Mazdaspeed3 is the best car in its class for the price. It is a wolf in sheeps clothing!
Cons: None that I have found yet.
Overall review: Don't think that I will ever get tired of driving this car.

BEST CAR EVER! by Lauren on 05/27/2009. Trim: 2009 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 Grand Touring 5-Door, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Hub bought a 2008 'vette and suddenly my CRV seemed sluggish and cumbersome. We needed something practical but more fun to drive so I checked out several others, including the Suburu WRX, and fell in love with the Speed3 on first drive. I LOVE this car and haven't had one moment's regret about trading in the '08 CRV on it. Interior is luxe on the Grand Touring package.
Cons: The front end lifts with extreme acceleration. This freaks me out, but hub finds it thrilling. Also, I had the dealership install an MP3 connection that hooks directly into the audio system and find that it sometimes screws with my iPod. No one has been able to figure out what's going on there, but they have confirmed that this is a problem with ALL of the MP3 connections they have done. Why didn't Mazda just hard-wire a connection at the factory? The only other negative is that sometimes I have to wrestle it away from the hub, who also has the options of driving his Camaro, the 'vette or one of three Harleys. It's amazing how often he chooses the Mazda!
Overall review: Mazda has really left the competition in the dust with this one. It is zippy, fun to drive AND practical at the same time. The exterior is deceivingly low-key and the interior is just beautiful. I don't know how they did it for the price.

A lot of bang for the buck! by The Traveler on 03/26/2009. Trim: 2009 Mazda MAZDASPEED3 Grand Touring 5-Door, Owned 1 year.
Pros: A lot of bang for the buck. Can easily get 300+ hp out of this vehicle. Good tight suspension. Decent fuel mileage if you stay out of the throttle.
Cons: Seats are a little uncomfortable. No sunroof option.
Overall review: The reviewer that said this car does not have any pickup, must not have the Mazdaspeed version. This vehicle is VERY quick and a lot of fun to drive. You really get a lot of bang for the buck with the Mazdaspeed 3 and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a little excitement to their daily commute.
