A Wagon, but not too Wagon-ish...
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/08/2010.
Trim: 2009 Volkswagen Passat Wagon Komfort PZEV, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
Great balance of performance and fuel economy. Stylish and modern interior with excellent fit and finish. Comfortable, highly adjustable front seats. Versatile, spacious interior / cargo space.
Cons:
Lacks a few standard features one might expect on a vehicle in this price range such as automatic climate control, power passenger seat and automatic headlamps.
Overall review:
A great, stylish alternative to less economical SUVs and typical sedan options such as Camry, Accord and Altima- and considerably cheaper than the majority of the European wagon offerings.

10,000 mile Passat wagon review
by Don from Lancaster, California on 11/10/2009.
Trim: 2009 Volkswagen Passat Wagon Komfort, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
For reference, I paid $29,100 for this car (4 cyclinder) including transportation and dealer prep. I was immediately impressed by the gas mileage. Over 30 mpg on the highway resulting in over 500 miles between refills. Handling and performance are very good with no noticeable turbo lag and leaving you with the sense that the car is smaller and lighter than it is. The engineering design of the varoius interior controls and displays, as well as the engine compartment are generally well thought out. Cargo space is adequate. Overall I found this to be an excellent value for the price.
Cons:
The seating surfaces are "leatherette" and need to be leather. They do not breathe. The transmission is a bit bumpy on some shifts. The red/blue night dash lighting is garish and needs to be refined. The process to shift the rear seats up and down is a bit cumbersome. The car is equipped with a push button parking brake, not as intuitive in an emergency situation as I would like. The A/C is slow ramping up in our summer heat. The cruise control operation is unnecessarily complex.
Overall review:
Over the first 10,000 miles I have had no issues with this car. None of the cons that I mentioned are enough to cause someone to look elsewhere. I recommend it for a value conscious owner.

by DAN on 06/07/2009.
Trim: 2009 Volkswagen Passat Wagon Komfort, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
BASICALLY THIS IS A ONE PRICE VEHICLE. THE ONLY REAL OPTION IS A GPS. ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF AND SOME YOU CANNOT IS STANDARD EQUIPMENT
Cons:
THERE ARE A FEW OPTIONS AVAILABLE ON THE PASSAT SEDAN THAT ARE NOT FOR THE WAGON
Overall review:
GREAT VEHICLE, TONS OF STANDARD EQUIPMENT THAT ARE COSTLY OPTIONS ON EVERY OTHER VEHICLES. (MOON ROOF, HEATED WINSHEILD WASHER JETS, 6 CD PLAYER, 12 WAY POWER DRIVERS SEAT, INCLUDING LUMBAR, REAR WINDOW RETRACTABLE SUN SCREENS, 4 LEVEL HEATED FRONT SEATS. IT EVEN HAS AN UMBRELLA HOLDER AND UMBRELLA FITTED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR.. VERY COMFORTABLE SEATS, LOTS OF CARGO SPACE WITH OR WITHOUT REAR SEATS DOWN.
EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE. I ONLY HAVE 1200 MILES ON MINE AND I'M ALREADY AVERAGING OVER 26 MPG COMB. CITY AND HIGHWAY.( MOSTLY CITY)
