Under-rated by many, but a great purchase
by Jon (Seattle) on 05/19/2009.
Trim: 2008 Land Rover LR3 HSE, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Nothing can beat this car in heavy offroad conditiions -- I drove this through snow and ice and offroad during the winter and it is phenomenal.
Great ride, super comfortable, and zero defects. I've never had a brand new car with zero defects before. Any issue Land Rover had with that are gone in this model.
Cons:
Price - when I bought mine pound to dollar was not good. But I am on my 2nd lease and buying this one off the lease.
Overall review:
This car is way ahead of Toyota, Audi, Acura and all the other competitors in technology and rugged offroad capability. I get 15.8 mpg consistently, even taking into account driving in traffic to work in city conditions.

BMW improved on the Disco

Pros:
HSE plus all possible options feels like a luxury car in the European tradition. Dealer provides a loaner delivered to our house for service, so that is nice. Huge discounts to be had on 2008 models. We like the way the car drives. We came from a Suburban, but still fit with fourd kids and a dog (luggage on the roof). It is a lot larger on the inside than it looks.
Cons:
We purchased the aftermarket video system, installed in the driver and passenger headrests. Our kids sometimes have trouble getting "reception" on the wireless headphones.
We ordered an aftermarket trim package so the enture front bumper would be painted (not that black plastic). When the car was delivered, the installer had not reconnected the parking distance sensors. The dealer fixed it, but it was a bit of a drag.
We also have a check engine light that goes on and off -- apparently not an indication of anything serious.
Overall review:
I also own a BMW, and it has similar, small, usually electronic issuess. I guess that is par for the course. They used to own Landrover, so hey, it runs in the family.

The Ultimate Stock Rig
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/17/2009.
Trim: 2008 Land Rover LR3 SE, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Great Land Rover.
Cons:
N/A
Overall review:
I've shopped around for stock off road rigs. This is by far the best (stock). There are also very few street compromises, or non at all for me. As for the bad quality rep, don't worry, Lexuses, Toyotas, and Jeeps break just as (or even more) often. Didn't have problems with mine yet.

Good Boy Rover!

Pros:
Very capable car that performs well both off road and on extended highway trips. Towing a boat is a pleasure with the adjustable air suspension. Very solid ride. Beautifully clean exterior lines are a thing of beauty.
Cons:
The fact that I can't afford two of them.
Overall review:
Test drive this car and you will understand. Range Rover has a winner with the LR3.
