Great car to drive by D rib speader on 06/16/2011. Trim: 2008 Porsche Cayman Base, Owned 2 years.

Pros: The handling is top notch. It is very noticeably more nimble compared to any past vehicle I have driven. The MPG is very good for a sports car giving around 27 on the freeway. I have been driving around NYC, so my avg has been 23. The car is stiffer than your average commuter which can be noticeable on streets with more uneven pavement. The torque and horsepower are very nice and clean. The car just feels powerful when you take off. Excellent power, even in 5th gear. I never need to downshift to pass people on the freeway - unlike past cars.
Cons: The factory radio could be a little better designed for a car of this luxury status. There are many vehicles with lower price tags that offer GPS, bluetooth, etc as standard options. For a Porsche, at least this model year, these were considered upgrades. There have been some complaints of noise in the back of the car - like a squeek. I noticed this initially, but after 3,000 miles, it has left. Be prepared to drive at least every 5 days because the battery will drain and die if not. The security and onboard computer place a large draw on the battery. I know many people use this as a second car. I didn't know about this until my battery died in the first 2 months of ownership.
Overall review: Overall, the car is very fun to drive and draws attention. The engine noise is right behind you and carries a low growl that is unbeatable. You feel as though you are part of a unique racing heritage when you drive. The car can be used as a daily commuter. Difficult to drive in snow without snow tires. Cons are just minor inconviences compared to other cars I have owned.

A True Head Turner by Shetown Di on 10/27/2010. Trim: 2008 Porsche Cayman Base, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Having put 20k so far with absolutely NO issues, I am planning a trip across the US this March! The car is perfect so far! 30mpg on the highway and 24 mpg around the village! I love just tooling down the back roads listening to the low pitch growl. Handles perfectly, with tight and exact steering. Phenomenal braking and then the accelleration just LEAPS forward. Typical Porsche 5spd shifting. Great Dash cluster, radio/CD Controls and computer interface.
Cons: The cup holder push bar needs repeated attempts to close it.
Overall review: A very stylish and fun little car. People wave just looking at it!

Surprising car - about as pure a driving machine as you can get for <60K by An MSN Autos Consumer on 03/26/2010. Trim: 2008 Porsche Cayman Base, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Recently bought one. Ultra-precise handling, startling (almost disorienting) ability to climb speeds with no effort, gobs of gadgets & settings even on a base model, and fantastic looks are definite pros. Gives an indication of what carmakers are capable of making, and still being surprisingly affordable (relatively - it's not much more expensive than top end American Muscle cars or SUVs). Quite a bit of storage space considering the size.
Cons: Coming from a big, bouncy Mustang - the stiffness of the ride was initially jarring - but you quickly get used to it. Can get noisy on anything less than glass-flat surfaces and at higher RPMs due to engine location INSIDE the passenger compartment. While only being a small 2-seat coupe it is NOT a tiny vehicle (a la Miata, Lotus Elise, et al.) - it is a sizable car for it's class and it is something to keep in mind when parking or driving through narrow spaces. Other than those "personal" quibbles - there is NOTHING wrong with the car itself, as one would expect
Overall review: Just an incredibly good car from front to back, top to bottom. People are genuinely surprised about the price of the car - coming in at a much lower number than they would expect. Any problems you could think of associated with the car are a problem of the driver, not a problem with the car itself.

Fun, Practical Sports Car by Big John - Kansas City on 12/08/2009. Trim: 2008 Porsche Cayman Base, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: Most beautiful car on the road, and looks like nothing else on the road except other Porsches; it zooms around turns and stops on a dime with a nickel change; fast acceleration but far from the fastest car out there; fits like a glove for me -- I'm 6'-4" and have 2" of headroom and plenty of legroom, too; two trunks make it fairly practical; even gets 25-27 mpg regularly; not even that expensive if you get a leftover model, due to 5-figure discount. Reliable - no problems at all in over 4000 miles.
Cons: Abominable base stereo!!! Whatever you do, get all the factory upgrades to the stereo! I was quoted $2300 to upgrade my stereo by a local "expert," and I'm not convinced they even know how to upgrade a Porsche without damaging it. It's irritating that Porsche uses such a rotten base stereo in a car this expensive.
Overall review: Excellent, unique, real sports car at a price of a BMW 1-series.

2008 Cayman by SSR Dallas on 07/28/2008. Trim: 2008 Porsche Cayman Base, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Beautiful car, fun to drive, and the navigation system is excellent.
Cons: The ride can be a little rough at times, but nothing out of the ordinary for a sports car that rides this low.
Overall review: The Cayman is a great car, and overall its got a lot of bang for the buck! Very fun to drive, but make sure you get the upgraded sound system, MoBridge and navigation package...they are worth the extra cost!
