X5 Owner by Car Cszar on 03/02/2010. Trim: 2008 BMW X5 4.8i Sports Activity Vehicle, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Best looking SUV on the market. Great vehicle in snow , rain or dry conditions. The heated seats and steering wheel are great for winter driving.
Cons: The rear windows could just be tinted darker and do away with the goofy retractable sun visor. The tire wear isnt the best with the 20" rims. But the look of the rims is worth the price of poor tire wear.
Overall review: This is my 2nd BMW, I had a 530i before this and I have been very pleased with both vehicles. Our other car is the Mercedes GL 450 and this is so much more the car.

The best SUV on the market by Fast lane driver from NY on 08/20/2009. Trim: 2008 BMW X5 4.8i Sports Activity Vehicle, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Handling is unbelievable for a SUV! It has never let me down it. Summer or winter, it's a real pleasure driving this SUV/SAV at speed.
Cons: There are some minor rattles. I can live with them though.
Overall review: I've had this X5 4.8i for almost 2 years now. I had two 3-series BMW's before this. It does not like it will last as long as those but I fully expect to get a really enjoyable 200K miles from this one. It's amazing to me how few problems I have I have had with this vehicle :) Only two really minor issues that were fixed in 30 minutes. I find that amazing.

BMW X5 "The Ultimate SAV" by speedheimer on 02/17/2009. Trim: 2008 BMW X5 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle, Owned 2 years.
Pros: This is our 4th addition to our Bimmer family. With its beautiful styling and lines, its a head turner compared to the competition. It rides smoother and quieter than its predecesor. Its really roomy and luxurious with good material. The 3rd row seats is definitely a plus even it if can't seat an adult, but its good for younger kids. Harmon Kardon Logic 7 sound system is so awesome, it ROCKS. Took this vehicle on a road trip to Southern California with 3 children and 3 adults, had 0 problems with it. Enough power going up and down the mountains, especially the Grape Vine and handled suprisingly well. BMW all the way, it's the Ultimate Driving Machine (SAV).
Cons: I really have no complaints about this vehicle. Before purchasing this, I compared it to the MBZ and Lexus. Although they offered there own thing but it didn't offer what the X5 did. It made my choice that much more easier, especially with its 4 year/50K maintenance program.
Overall review: I would definitely recommend an X5 for prospects who are looking for a mid-size SAV. Some might think its a bit spendy for an SAV, but you are paying for quality and performance which have been tried and true for decades. I'm sure there are problems with the X5 as some owners have expressed, but there are problems with the 100K + vehicles as well. My own set of compare and contrast between the MBZ, AUDI, LEXUS, ACURA, and BMW. Its BMW hands down.

Nice SUV but misses the mark for the money. by Run_Forest_Run Exit 2 NJ on 01/24/2009. Trim: 2008 BMW X5 4.8i Sports Activity Vehicle, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Handles great, excellent acceleration with the 4.8. Comfortable interior.
Cons: Lousy gas mileage around 13 City 18 Hwy. Backup camera useless at night. On board computer can be brutally slow to boot up so you can use the back up camera. Sometimes boots up almost immediately other times 2 -3 minutes. Run flat tires.
Overall review: Its a BMW and rides like one, handles like one, and is built like one. I got rid of a Range Rover (super charged) on a trade for a new X5. Suspension can be bouncy front to back. I have had the car almost a year now and have 13,000 miles on it. Got a nail in one of the tires in the first 500 miles and tried to get it plugged, then patched and wouldn't hold the leak. Guess what BMW will not do that? You have to replace the tire at $280 a clip. I'll take non-run flat tires any day. Bottom line its a very nice, small SUV. The computer and backup camera performance for $65K is brutal. I miss my Range Rover (the full size one not the sport).

Super SUV by flwink on 11/25/2008. Trim: 2008 BMW X5 4.8i Sports Activity Vehicle, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Fast, accelerates & handles great! Best vehicle I've ever owned. I like it better than my 7 series. I feel secure & safe driving it. I drove Mercedes, Acura, Lexus (what a numb ride, it's for old people & men & women who want a soft ride ) & Porsche (came in second). I put on the 20 inch wheels & it has a very masculine look & lines to it. It says it tops out at 150 mph but I won't try that with the 4.8. How many 4.8 engines made crank out 350 hp & 350 lbs of torque. That is 1.215 horsepower per cubic inch without any turbo & supercharge. Not bad. I will always own one of these.
Cons: I expected better gas mileage. I was getting OK mileage, 19-20 mpg hwy and then FL passed the Ethanol law & now with the ethanol I've noticed a slight drop in my hwy mileage down to 18-19 tops. But at the end of the day this isn't anything that would keep me from keeping & enjoying it.
Overall review: If you want a SUV that is fast, handles superbly & gets the looks & thumbs up then this is the SUV you should by. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. The I Drive gets a lot of complaints but I never opened the manual & I breeze right through it for settings & the electronic toys that come with the car. If you can use a computer you can use the I Drive. No worries. Lastly no cost for maintaining the car for the first 4 years. Add this to your other cars & see what your out of pocket cost come up to!!!
