Great car for towing my 17 foot Pontoon
by GT6Jerry on 09/28/2011.
Trim: 2008 MINI Cooper Base, Owned 3 years.

Pros:
Plenty of power, great looks, good towing capabilities, great fuel milegae, and perfect for two people. Since our son is now on his own, the MINI is perfect for just my wife and I. We use it for almost everything from everyday work transit to vacationing and trips. It has plenty of room for groceries with the seats folded down. The seats are firm and hold you in place while cornering. I've had some so-called "sporty" cars in the past and none can compair the the MINI. I hope they don't change anything cause they've got it right!!
Cons:
Back seat is a bit cramped but hey, if you want more room you can always opt for the Clubman...
Overall review:
I love the styling and great fuel mileage. I average 34 to 36 consistantly when I'm not towing my 17 foot pontoon. Yes, I said my 17 foot pontoon. I bought my car brand new and started looking for a hitch for it. Finally, a company call Curt Hitches agreed to design, and install a hitch on my MINI for free. Of course they kept the template for future MINI owners who want hitches. I have a 17 foot Low Pro Angler 2 Pontoon that you can't even tell is behind my MINI when it's in tow. The MINI has power to spare and it just goes to show you don't need a gas sucking truck or SUV to go fishing. Oh yeah, it does drop my mileage down to around 28 MPG when I'm towing it. Thats better than most trucks get empty, and I turn more heads too!!!

Not a Toy

Pros:
Everything. People say but it is a toy. I say do you get from o to 60 in about 6 sec or 35+ mpg of gas and have a fully loaded as far as leather, etc? This is a serious little car even if it looks like a toy to some.
Cons:
Nothing, love this car! Love the looks, the mileage, the stereo, the room, the zip, perfect small car!

10+

2008 Mini Hatchback Base 6 speed
by Loochman from Aurora OHio on 04/28/2012.
Trim: 2008 MINI Cooper Base, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
This car handles great. Got a 6 speed base model. It has enough power to maneuver through traffic. The heated seats are a must for the winter months as they heat up fast. Stock radio lacks a bit but never use it as I have Ipod hooked up all the time. Got panoramic sun roof which is awesome. Put Bridgestone Ecopia tires on it and get 38 mpg around town. I cannot complain about this car. I would recommend it to anyone but get a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission. Loochman out!
Cons:
nothing really. not any more expensive to maintain than any other vehicle.
Overall review:
I use full synthetic for oil changes. Not any more expensive to repair than any other vehicle out there. Find a good mechanic and it will run forever. I have had this for over a year as 2nd owner and love it. Had Big SUV before. Love the 6 speed. I get 36-40 mpg around town and through the back roads. Highway at 75 plus brings mpg down but still 35 mpg. I will be getting a John Cooper Works when I finish school in a year. Either the roadster or another hatchback. Did I say to reference Queen's Roger Taylor "I'm in Love With My Car."

I heart my mini!!

Pros:
I love everything about the mini. This is my dream car. It zips around town, fits into small spaces yet doesn't feel like a small car inside. Not suitable for those who need to schlep about tons of stuff but it does the trick for me!
Cons:
The only 2 things I don't LOVE are the arm rest - it doesn't stay firmly straight in place and the tire pressure monitor goes off way more than what is acceptable. Everytime a cold spell comes around, the tire monitor goes off and you MUST adjust the pressure. Even for the slightest change. You cannot see the info screen on the steering wheel (time, etc) until you get this addressed. I also have a stick and if you're not used to driving a stick shift this may not be the best for first time owners. The BMW 3 series is easier. The Mini's is easy to get into the wrong gear if you're not skilled. I've had many manual drive cars and this one is the most notible change but I can work it!
Overall review:
Love it!
