A good buy.. depending on what you're going to use it for. by John from Iowa on 06/14/2010. Trim: 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 4WD, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Nice, small, multi-purpose vehicle with plenty of cargo room for it's size. Has a peppy, strong, and trouble-free 3.0L V6 that handles trailers with little issue. Stylish and fairly comfortable inside. Handles like a sports car and makes turns on a dime -- perfect for any tight parking lot! The dropping bumper/tailgate feature is very unique and useful when moving larger items. Love the keyless start and touch-sensitive entry system. Lots of room in the back seat and even third-row seating. Dash-lighting is really nice and easy on the eyes at night.
Cons: #1 Gripe: Interior is shoddy. Plastics are very soft and scuff easily. I use my CUV for quite a bit of utility and the cargo area is starting to look rather rough. Most of the plastic "slider" rails have popped off already since they were just very sparingly glued on there to begin with. Busted airbag mount in steering wheel and ABS sensor went bad in under 10k miles. Wheel wells did not hold up well against the elements (flimsy plastic) are a bit tore up from the winter.. looks like the larger XLS rims with stock tires scrubbed a bit. Front-end is prone to misalignment. Heavy torque-steer is dangerous in the winter or on went roads.
Overall review: Never been a huge Mitsubishi fan; however, after reading reviews on this vehicle I decided it was a good buy and I figured I'd give the underdog a chance. Overall, despite the cons, it still was a pretty good buy at the time. Would not recommend it if you plan on doing a lot of utility-related stuff such as moving items, have dogs, etc. As I said, the plastic in the interior is extremely soft and flimsy. I had to have the front end realigned with 19k miles on it -- Never had a vehicle go out of alignment as often as this thing does. Would I buy again? Probably not.. but that is just because it wasn't right for my needs. I do tow with it (Class IV hitch) and it does that amazingly well for it's size. It is fun to drive and easy on the gas mileage. I trust it to get me from point A to B with no issues. Will probably hold onto it for a while as it did have a great warranty and with zero percent financing.

The most efficient SUV (crossover) during winter conditions in Minnesota by SpeedDemon in chilly Minnesota on 12/26/2008. Trim: 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Fun to drive. Awesome performance. Engine is very responsive when needed. Rockford Sound Systems. Heated Leather Seat during Winter. The 4 wheel drive capabilities are impressing mostly when combining them with the Sporttronic paddle shifters on the steering wheel column
Cons: The side mirrors get foggy during winter.
Overall review: Awesome vehicle . The aggressive design and exterior make it a great vehicle. I will argue that is underestimated when I was looking to buy a new car I looked at Toyota and the sales people treated me really bad. I went to a Mitsubishi dealer and the customer service was really bad

Undercover family hauler by Joe on 09/22/2009. Trim: 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander SE 2WD, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: -Sporty feel -Design -Interior space -Safety and convenience features
Cons: -Fuel efficiency
Overall review: Great car. Mitsubishi needs to put more effort in providing better interior materials. Third row is small. Well, it is designed for kids. If you want a large third row seat, get a minivan or a large SUV.

You will be Very Surprised with this SUV! great features at a great price by promoguz from passaic, nj on 10/21/2008. Trim: 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: This Car is by far underestimated. I shopped around. Looked at the Toyota Rav4 but overpriced and looked cheap. Nissan Murano was beautiful but way out of my budget with features I wanted. The Honda CRV sucked and Saturn Vue wasn't bad, but too small of interior. I got the OUTLANDER xls fully loaded. Great Rockford Fosgate Soundsystem, the NAV systems and 30 gig ( I think its 30) hard drive stores all my CDs, Plays DVD Movies and great for family trips never having to get lost! Very roomy. Folding seats fold ALL the Way up. Regular outlet is great to plug in any laptop or other electric appliance. Rides Great. Nice pick up. Folding out rear door makes it easy to load cargo. Go test drive
Cons: Road Noise is high. Fuel Mileage is okay. Pretty decent for suv. while the interior is quite nice, some of the plastics tend to scratch easily, so just treat with care...but other than that the pro's way out do any negative aspect of the vehicle. best bang for the buck hands down
Overall review: The Oulander is quite Stlyish. Mitsubishi really stepped it up in 2007 in the outlander and while the 2008 model is basically the same with just a few changes in terms of options, you truly get a lot for you moneys worth. From 2wd, 4wd or All Wheel Drive, your good for any road condition. Everyone that I've given a ride to has been surprised at the features available and how good the car looks in and out. The Sound System is amazing for sound buffs. Storage compartments are a plenty and interior space is suprisingly large. I'm still amazed at what I can fit in there. If your on the fence about this one, I recommend a test drive. This car wasn't in my radar till I drove it and saw it up close. Totally was surprised how much I liked it. Great incentives 2. and warranty is big 10 years-100,000. feel very confident and happy about my decision to buy.
