Great car needs noise dampening by Ken, Langley, BC on 05/29/2011. Trim: 2008 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: 4x4, Leather Seats, sunroof, Auto-Stick, Fuel mileage, ESC, Anti-Roll Mitigation, Side Impact Airbags
Cons: Engine noise, road noise
Overall review: After 12 years of dakotas and Rams I had to downsize due to change in living arrangement and the onset of USD $5.00/gal gas here in British Columbia. I bought my "Jeep Green" Compass in July of 2010 used with 47,500 Km's. Absolutely love the size, handling and the Auto-Stick. I'm getting 10 L/100 Km or 23.5 mpg in mixed driving. My biggest complaint is the road noise. Maybe it's the Firehawk tires but it sounds like I'm driving on marbles all the time. And the engine, well, it sounds like I'm driving a washing machine most of the time. I drove the 2011 version and it's like going from a Trabant to a Honda Accord. I am going to install B-Quiet or Dynamat but obviously Jeep engineers seriously failed in controlling the interior environment of the Compass.

The Girlie Jeep by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/15/2012. Owned 4 years.
Useful?
Pros: The comfort while driving is great. It is also very dependable in bad weather. I had leased a Liberty twice prior to purchasing the Compass. When asked 'why' did I switch models, I reply that the Compass is more of a 'girlie' Jeep. The other models, including the Liberty, looked & seemed more masqueline. I am retired & just feel more comfortable with its height getting in & out of, & when pulling out onto the highway.
Cons: The 'blind' spots on the left & right doors where the side mirrors are dangerous. The black holders of the mirrors could have been designed in a reduced size. It will totally block the sight of people walking, going around a bend, or a smaller car. I did not experience any of this with the Libert . I would recommend that a backup camera be added, however, with the Compass model expiring, they probably won't change the model. Also, sometimes the computerized notifications, like 'change oil' or 'low tire pressure', etc. comes on, when it was not necessary. It caused a needless trip to the dealership or auto repair for adjustment in the message, nothing else.
Overall review: I've received a lot of compliments on the exterior of my Compass & on the riding comfort. Also, it feels safe while driving in rain or snow. It doesn't slide all over. I am NOT sorry that I purchased it. IT is going to be my vehicle for years to come.

Sporty SUV by Doug M., Elkridge, MD on 03/09/2011. Trim: 2008 Jeep Compass Limited 4X2, Owned 3 years.
Useful?
Pros: The Compass gets good gas mileage. I like the ability to fold down the seats flat for more storage space. The Compass also has very good headroom. It handles smoothly on the highway. Since it it compact it is easy to park and has good turning radius.
Cons: There are only a few complaints that I have. The gas tank is small, so I find myself at the gas station a few times a week. Low end acceleration is not great. I think that is because I have the 2.0 liter engine. However, highway acceleration and handling is excellent. I have no problem passing other drivers on the highway. I drive 25 miles to work per day.
Overall review: For the money, the Jeep Compass is a great deal! I have had a lot of fun driving it. Three years after purchase, it still handles excellent. The car is very manuverable. It may take some time to accelerate, but once you are traveling at highway speed, you will have no problems. I like how the seats fold down for extra space. I bought this vehicle for that reason, and in order to get better gas mileage. There are times when I would like a bigger SUV. This is a small one, but then I like the gas mileage.

love it! by renee from Ohio on 09/04/2009. Trim: 2008 Jeep Compass Sport 4X2, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: great deal on a great car - why do the "pros" diss the compass but the real owners like it?? 30 MPG, sporty handling and fun to drive! I got the absolute low base model (sport 4x2 5-speed) for a steal of a price, But even so, the car has 4-wheel antilock brakes, skid-control, traction control, sidecurtain airbags - Chrysler does not skimp on engineering!
Cons: roll up windows
Overall review: I think for the money its the best little SUV out there

Useful?
Pros: 4x4, it can kick in automaticlly or you can put it in 4x4 manually.
Cons: smaller space than my chevy equinox, but 4x4 makes up for it.
Overall review: drives very well and you can't beat the warranty! And I always get compliments on it!
