Unexpected Greatness
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 08/22/2012.
Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
High quality interior. Stylish exterior. Drives great. Great gas. Very happy with my decision to buy this car.
Cons:
Nothing. Couldn't be more pleased :-)
Overall review:
I bought this car used with 75,000 miles. It still drives and handles great. Either the first owner before me took really great care of this car, or the interior is very durable because it is in almost perfect condition. I wasn't looking for this car when i began auto shopping. Honestly, I never thought i would own a Volkswagen. This one caught my eye though and i have been loving it ever since.

The REAL Ultimate Driving Machine
by Alex in Memphis on 05/25/2010.
Trim: 2008 Volkswagen Passat Turbo, Owned 2 years.
Useful?
Pros:
Extremely well-built, powerful, fuel-stingy, and comfortable. My previous 5 cars were BMWs (a 325i, 325 touring, E36 M3, E46 M3, and a 330i convertible)...but I think the VW tops them all in fit, finish, ergonomics, and sophistication. I bought the car 6 mos off lease with 10k miles on it for $22k--what a steal!!!
Cons:
One radio speaker in the driver door buzzes a bit if I turn up the bass and volume very high. That's the only flaw I've found.
Overall review:
I think the fact that owner review scores significantly exceed those of the "experts" shows the secret is not yet out on how fine this vehicle really is.

The Lesser Expensive German Luxury Car
by Duckman -- Waxhaw, NC on 02/18/2010.
Trim: 2008 Volkswagen Passat Lux, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros:
The fit and finish is fantastic. The styling, espcecially the interior, is great. It's a perfect size for a family sedan, the 2.0L turbo four cylinder engine has adequate power but it's reasonably fuel efficient. I've owned BMWs, MBs, Lexus, Audi and Acura cars. I still own and drive a Porsche. My 2008 VW Passat Lux is simply a great car with which I'm thrilled. I had considered buying a used 5-series Bimmer or a MB C300 but the Passat is every bit as nice for a LOT less money.
Cons:
I can't think of any at the moment.
Overall review:
Great car. Glad I bought it.

Not a Jetta... ;-)
by Rob from Philly PA on 12/29/2009.
Trim: 2008 Volkswagen Passat Lux, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
I've owned this car now for 26 months, and have put almost 38k on the odometer in the NorthEast. Car has been extremely reliable and a pure joy to drive. As other have stated, get's a number of "looks" from people, and most are surprised that it is in fact a Volkswagen.
Two years later, I still enjoy driving it very much. Highway mileage is good for a 3800 lbs car (31+) and I can put 5 actual adults into the car at one time (can't do that with the BMW 5 series or Audi A4's).
Good handling in the snow and heavy rains, and is a real highway cruiser that makes long trips very quick and comfortable.
In sport mode it will surprise you, so enjoy and hold on.. ;-)
Cons:
Went through the original Goodyear tires very quickly, but it is again a 3800 lbs car. Just the price to pay for driving the car as aggressively as one can.
Overall review:
Extremely good ownership experience to date, would recommend the Passat without question.
Would also recommend the CC version, if you don't need the 5 person seating and are ok with a lower roof line.
