Can't Imagine Going Back to a Car by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/22/2010. Trim: 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4 Crew Cab, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Diesel - Very quiet, good smooth power with dual turbos, new car-like interior and features for those used to a luxury car, much improved ride from the earlier bouncy F-250's, buttons, levers, switches and little things have been very durable and reliable, nothing rattles or makes noise, step and handle on the tailgate is a must and very helpful, overall fit and finish is great. Absulutely no soot out the tailpipe - still no evidence of any exhaust soot on the tailpipe in over 26,000 miles.
Cons: Diesel - Annoying that Ford decided to redo the body style after only 3 years. New emissions standards have really put a dent in mileage - about 16-17mpg at 65 mph on the highway and 10-12mpg in town, average of about 13-14mpg in mixed driving at normal speeds and driving. My 2005 diesel Excursion gets quite a bit better mileage. Banks high flow air filter sometimes sets off check engine light. Expensive oil changes - takes 15 quarts of oil. Concern over what might or might not void the warranty - aftermarket exhaust, air filter, lift, etc. Turbo pressure guage has waivered 3-4psi even with constant speed and pressure on gas pedal on occasion - not sure if this is normal.
Overall review: Very fun to own and drive. Works well as my daily driver, even as 4x4 fits in 7ft parking garage. Finally, the luxury in a truck that I am used to from a luxury car. Not bad mileage for its size, but emissions standards have reduced diesel efficiency.

There is a reason why Ford rules the truck market by NMFORDMAN on 03/03/2008. Trim: 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty FX4 SuperCab 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Everything! Ride is exceptional for a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive. The new 6.4L diesel is responsive and quiet. The redisigned interior is comfortable and well thought out.
Cons: At this price point I would like to see the upgraded sound system as opposed to the rear back-up sensor, but you cannot have everything even at $48K.
Overall review: This is my 3rd F-250 and hands down it is the best for all the above reasons. The 7.3L was bullet proof, the 6.0L quicker but more problematic, but this new 6.4L is a whole new class of diesel. I was skeptical that Ford could one up themselves as my '03 Lariat was an exceptional truck but the new interior prompted me to look at an '08. This is not a truck for someone to drive that never needs to haul or pull anything. Whist the mileage is not terrible at 13.8 it is less than the 15+ I would see in my '03 with a 7.3L or the 14.5 with my '03 6.0L F-350. With over 5K on the odometer this thing is quiet and quick.
