Great Small SUV
by Laurie05701 on 01/19/2010.
Trim: 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
I have had my Escape since May of 2008, and with only regular maintenance, it has been a great little SUV. I have consistenly gotten 26 mpg in the winter, and get around 32-34 in the summer. Obviously, my hybrid works better in warm temperatures.
Bottom line, I have had a full size Explorer, and I am not disappointed with Fords little SUV!!
Cons:
A little pricey
Overall review:
Love it and would buy another!

Pros:
MPG...we've recorded up to 40 mpg!
Cons:
Plastic trim is a bit flimsy & cheap
Overall review:
Outstanding Hybrid vehicle...36 MPG for over a year, lots of room and fun to drive. Recommend this vehicle 100%. Don't know who rates vehicles for the mags and website...but get off the Toyota and Honda bandwagon...Ford owns quality and performance in the Hybrid. Next vehicle will be a Ford Fusion Hybrid!!! 45 MPG and more room than the boxy prius or accord

Avoid this overrated highly priced wreck.

Pros:
Futuristic feeling when engine cuts out mid movement, Bright OEM headlights
Cons:
Craftsmanship the same as late 90s Hyundai. Unimaginably cheap materials for such a pricey truck! Felt headliner feels recycled from a Ford Tempo. Disappointing MPGs for such a publicized truck.
Overall review:
Worst decision of the new millennium for me. Spent more than 34K on a truck that probably should be in the economy car range of pricing. Leather quality is that of the same of a knock-off Chinatown Louis Vuitton, and after only one year of light service MASSIVE cracking and peeling. My 2000 Mercury Sable's leather is MINT in comparison and get far heavier use! Ford really turned away from customer satisfaction, and probably spent too much of the budget on hiring Mike Rowe to install adequate appointments to car. My wife's luxury car, Audi A4 of a close year cost about the same, so I am not sure where Ford is investing that premium price.
I just ditched the horrible Ford and took a big bath in losing many thousands on trading it in. I was so displeased with the new Ford company, I decided to buy a car that was built in the States, I went with Hyundai, and the car is far better build and cost thousands less.

Useful?
Pros:
It's an attractive sporty vehicle that handles well. Maintenance has been minimal.
Cons:
Cannot hitch anything to the back, interior fabric stains too easily, electrical occasionally stops (windshield wipers/air conditioning/windows) with no warning. DIfficult to maintain if taken overseas as some countries won't service hybrids.
Overall review:
The interior fabric stained immediately. I live near the beach and any water spot stains the seating and you can't get it out. Within a few weeks of owning the car, the interior looked terrible. But the biggest nuisance was after purchasing an expensive bike rack, it was impossible to connect it to the back using a two inch hitch. You own a sturdy 4x4 SUV, but you can't hitch anything to the back of it because the hybrid battery sits where the hitch connection should be! As a woman, forget a roof rack - for heavy objects, it's too difficult. This was a major downside of this vehicle if you go on a lot of road trips. And gas mileage has only been so so. For a hybrid, it should be able to do better. Full Electric won't kick in at all unless the air conditioning is off, but I live in a hot place, so that was another negative.

The SUV gas mileage champ
by Luis from Fort Lauderdale on 02/26/2009.

Pros:
The gas mileage is spectacular. I get an average of 35.2 miles/gallon consistently between highway & city driving. The SUV is also trouble free. I do the manufacturer's recomended maintainance and have had "ZERO" problems with this vehicle.
Cons:
The interior. I have cloth seats, no sun roof, no power passenger front seat and no NAV system. Ford could have made it more luxjurious considering the price tag - $34K. However, I got a year end deal on a dealer driven vehicle so I paid just $23,900 so I guess I can't complain. The only problem is that I've been told that it is impossible to install an after market nav system similar to the factory installed ones.
Overall review:
Over all I'd give the vehicle a 8.5 as I LOVE the gas mileage and the exterior styling is nice. Also the vehicle is problem FREE.
