Mazda's Swiss Army knife of a car/van. by Troy, Columbus, OH on 04/01/2010. Trim: 2007 Mazda Mazda5 Sport, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Very smart use of interior space. After 2.5 yrs and 60k, I've had zero issues with this car. Have done nothing but change oil and filters and replaced the tires on it. Have driven it from Ohio to Florida and back with the family, and it was very comfortable. (I'm 6'1, 215lbs) No rattles or other buzzy noises yet. Car still seems very tight. Love the sliding doors. Has a mild cool factor that other cars in this class do not have.
Cons: No major complaints. 3rd row seating is for little people only, but you would know that before buying this car. Its incredible that it even has 3 rows of seating. Wish it got better gas mileage, but I think I average around 23mpg which is not terrible. Hard to keep the rear glass clean, but that happens to all cars with a flat hatch in back.
Overall review: I use this car for a catering business and its perfect. Functional, stylish, economical, fun to drive, and trouble free. I don't think it can be beat for the money. Still love it after 60k of hard driving. Not a car for larger families, but would be great for retirees, empty nesters, or small families like mine. (3 peeps) Great for throwing golf clubs in and going.

Underpowered, overweight. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/19/2010. Trim: 2007 Mazda Mazda5 Touring, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Dry-weather handling is great for a car that can haul six. The 5 has more than enough cupholders.
Cons: This car is hard on tires and brakes. Tires needed to be replaced at 24k. Now I have 32k on the car and the brakes have a vibration that comes on after just a little bit of use. Acceleration is mediocre with just the driver on board. I've had 4 adults on board on the interstate. Going up a 2 mile hill required 3rd gear and 5000rpm just to maintain 70mph. I only got about 22mpg on the highway that trip because the wight of the passengers really taxes the engine. Something I haven't heard mentioned about the 5.... if you haul six 200lb adults you are exceeding the 5's weight limit. Mazda says 1191lb is max payload.
Overall review: For 2010 Mazda gave the 3 a bigger engine, but not the 5 got passed over. This car needs more power. Driving on the freeway in traffic results in a great deal of anxiety.

A smart family car with an euro flair by Gus from New York City, NY on 04/15/2009. Trim: 2007 Mazda Mazda5 Touring, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Quality for the price, great looks (especially the front), its driving sporty, great visibility, and seating layout is great. Yeah maybe it seats one less person, 6 instead of 7 but you gain the confort of individual theater seats plus the convenient access to the 3rd row meant for kids only. Clever use of space. Great storage bin under the seats and in the rear of the 3rd row. 6CD player and moonroof availability.
Cons: Lacks ESC, a 5spd auto transmission, requires roof rack when 3rd row is used (although I am resistant to buy one because its position interferes with moonroof and it damages the overall sporty look). Radio signal sometimes fails.
Overall review: It's a long and tall Mazda 3, it falls a bit short on power but with 2 kids I rather keep my Andretti in me under check. I definitely recommend Mazdas in general but especially this 5 model. If a Minivan is too big and a SW too small this should be your pick.

A cool micro van by rey rey from sf on 03/03/2007. Trim: 2007 Mazda Mazda5 Sport, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: This a very versitile car. The two sliding doors really help out. i chose the Mazda 5 over the Scion xb and Matrix and I don't regret at all.
Cons: So far so good
Overall review: On a scale of 1 to 10 , I give it a solid 9.
