Best car I've ever owned
by Dave on 02/18/2010.
Trim: 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC Sedan, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Quality of build
Engine and drivetrain performance
Confident ride and handling
Economy of operation
Cons:
No satellite or HD radio
Overall review:
Purchased this E320 Diesel as a certified pre-own from local MB dealer. Saved about $20K off MSRP. on a two model year old car with only 24K miles on it. Astounding performance and economy from the Bluetec (no urea required in '07). Will get up north of any posted speed limit very quickly and quietly. Vehicle has delivered an average of 34.4 mpg since purchase, with a high of almost 38 mpg on a continuous over the road jaunt at 75 mph. Stone reliable to this point. I have established a 7500 mile oil change with Mobil 1 at recommendation of local MB independent garage. Oil analysis seems to affirm that's the optimum time. Build quality is exemplary with top quality fit, finish and materials throughout. Great ride and handling.

A Respectable Machine

Pros:
Beautiful Cruise mode that glides, but nicely sharpened handling in Sport mode. Comfortably appointed and build feels solid. Great power in the 268bhp that makes this big boy feel like a much smaller, sportier vehicle. Massive trunk space and decent fuel economy (I get about 23mpg). This is a grown up car that lets you take the family on vacation, or should you need to, blow past trucks on the interstate. 0-60 is just a touch over 6 seconds.
Cons:
Dealer visits hurt my wallet. Have to be careful about the fluid levels and maintenance schedule. I want an ipod hookup, and the aux jack is in the most illogical place in the glove box.
Overall review:
It was hard to understand what the dealer meant when he was telling me 'this is a Mercedes E class' when I was trying to make comparisons with other cars, but after the first solo drive on the highway, I got it. this is unlike any other drive, unlike any other car. You can't compare it to any Japanese or American make, since they're different breeds.
