Look at the alternatives by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/28/2008. Trim: 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit 4-Door, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Nice clean looks, Very well refined interior. Good torque, and handles well.
Cons: Wipers have broke with no snow on them. The seat handle has broken and been fixed and broke again. The seat sensor failed. Clunky shifting, and poor gas mileage for the size.
Overall review: Look at the alternatives, such as Mazda 3.

Love it! by NavyWife on 02/25/2013. Trim: 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit 4-Door, Owned 8 years.
Useful?
Pros: I love everything about my Rabbit. Its zippy, looks stylish and gets great gas mileage. I also have a sun roof in mine, which I love and have never had issues with. I haven't had any real issues with it. I even drove it across country from Oregon-Indiana and it did great. I think this car is good for everyone.
Cons: Nothing.
Overall review: LOVE IT!

A Rabbit that is more than a VW! by HighValueFinder from Seattle on 12/06/2006. Trim: 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit 4-Door, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: This Rabbit is a real handsome bunny! it is totally different(much better and improved) from the previous golf IV, which was not a bad one! you get 1st class materials and build-quality which can be find in those BMW and Audi! the ride is a surprisingly refinement, you really feel like sitting in a Audi A3 or A4, different from those refined japanese ones such as Accord and Camry. The acceleration is also much better, same for the new clutch and transmission which is more precise. moreover, the details are better taken cared. Space of the rear seat, which was complained in the previous model, is very generous, also you get a sweet rear vent which can be only found in those luxury brands.
Cons: Not really, love it in every aspects, only has one "complain": why don't we get a 4-cylinder version of 2.0 FSI engine" which is used in European market and it is deliver much as same power but better fuel economy(highway:6.5L/100km & city:9.0L/100km). But this 5-L cut from lambo-V-10 engine does have much more torque(the 2.0FSI has about 148 pd.ft), rated at 170 pd.ft/3750rpm which is very welcome!
Overall review: if you need versatile, better than enough performance, excellent german designed quality, both big interior space and compace exterior size, Audi feel like ride and driving handling; this Rabbit is the only choice so far in the market! but if you also want a excellent fuel economy, then you need to wait till the late 2007 for the new 2.0 TDI which has more power(around 140hp) and torque of course it will be much more refined than the current 1.9 TDI on Jetta! Since the high gas price, I believe it is worthy waiting for it!

Very happy with it by 1st-time VW owner on 11/21/2006. Trim: 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit 4-Door, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: Looks great; lots of interior room; very supportive seats; lots of "standard" options like heated seats, 6 CD, ABS, and much more; very sharp handling; great powertrain (I have the stick shift) with lots of ready torque across a wide range of revs in any gear. Available stability control and lots of airbags, better than any other car I found in this class. I was very concerned with buying a car with great safety features (esp. at this size), this car has them.
Cons: The external side mirrors are definitely too small. It takes getting used to being confident of lane changes, but it's fine after a couple of weeks. The clutch pedal's travel is too long; I have long legs but it took me a while to get a position where I was comfortable and also could depress the clutch pedal all the way. The climate control system (which is nice to have in a car in this price range!) sometimes requires constant fiddling with, as it can suddenly switch from warm to cold air. Regardless of the vents selected, air seems to come through all vents.
Overall review: I looked at the Mazda3, the Subaru Impreza, and a couple of other cars in this size range. I wanted a hatchback. The Rabbit was a much more fun and solid drive, with more power and better handling, than any of them. It also has a nicer interior, lets in less road noise, and (after a second test drive to make sure my initial impression was solid) was the clear choice compared to the others. I was a little concerned about VW's past quality issues, but a couple of reviews I read said that this new Rabbit is a better-built car than the older ones. So far, no issues. I got a 4-door with ESP (stability control) and 16-inch wheels, no other options. It's a very well-equipped car out of the gate, in fact there is more there than I would have bought a la carte. The dealer experience (Norwood, MA VW Gallery) was outstanding. Very courteous, polite, responsive, helpful in finding me the exact car I wanted, dealing with the prep, and so on. I would certainly buy at this dealership again.

Love my Rabbit by Rickss77 on 10/20/2006. Trim: 2006 Volkswagen Rabbit 2-Door, Owned less than 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: Love the torque! The car makes me smile each time I drive it. It feels quite fast and agile. The interior is well design and solid.
Cons: Poor gas mileage for an economy car.
Overall review: Overall, the car is a gem. Feels very fast, it is extremely fun, and affordable. The German built Rabbits do feel much tighter than other VWs. The car is the best value in its class.
