Good choice
by Solability HSV on 04/02/2009.
Trim: 2007 Mercury Mountaineer AWD Luxury 4.0L, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros:
Comfort - carry capacity
Cons:
Fuel economy is ok - feels heavy and somewhat sluggish - the 2002 model was peppier - needs a diet. I do like it.
Overall review:
I like it - it feels good and feels safe - passengers are comfortable - heat and air work very well.

Best Buy for the Money
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/11/2007.
Trim: 2007 Mercury Mountaineer AWD Premier 4.6L, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros:
Basically I very pleased with the exterior styling over the Explorer, the interior noise is almost as quite as my Lincoln LS. Every conrtol is in with in drive reach no matter how tall or short you are. The DVD NAv system is easy to use. MUch imporved handleing ove the the older models. The third row is great and surprisingly adults have plenty of room back there.
Cons:
Fuel mileage- but it is an SUV with a V8. Location of the front floor climate vents. They blow on your leg not the feet.
Overall review:
I would recommend you check out this vehicle if you are currently looking for a SUV.

by Groundhog on 03/30/2007.
Trim: 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4X2 Premier 4.0L, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
Good value, well designed with room and visibility, easy access to third row seats. Integrated safety with side air bags and canopy protection. Good mpg actual 19 overall with 23mpg on the road.
Cons:
DVD sytem must have disc changes made from back seat. Akward when small children are in rear. Some other makes have capability to change from front. Should have AFT engine standard.
Overall review:
Good value, good design, real comfort room and performance in a reasonably priced package.

As good as it gets
by Macaroni, Oklahoma City on 10/17/2006.
Trim: 2007 Mercury Mountaineer AWD Premier 4.6L, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
My second Mountaineer. Most impressive to me is the stopping ability.... brakes are truly outstanding. Air conditioning system is better than ever. Previous Mountaineer was the cheapest (repair wise) car I have ever owned. Could not ask for more. This 2006 looks to do the same
Cons:
Dore handle below door control panel is perhaps too low.
Overall review:
This is"Keeper". I plan on getting 180,000 miles (just like my previous Mountaineer)on my 2006 before trading in.

Great SUV
by Trude on 01/27/2011.
Trim: 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4X2 Premier 4.6L, Owned 2 years.
Useful?
Pros:
The color (red) I get compliments all the time on it. The stability is excellent in winter driving conditions. Love the heated seats, CD changer, moon roof, navigation system and backup sensors.
Cons:
The only thing I don't like is I can't get any heat on below my knees. Took it back to the dealership and they said it is operating correctly. It takes 25-30 minutes on the highway before I can turn off the upper blowers. Wish there was a way to correct that and it would be a perfect car. One other thing, I was driving down the road one Sunday morning and lost all power. Have no idea what happened but coasted into a nearby parking lot, put the car into park and restarted. Never had another incident like it again.
Overall review:
This is my second mountaineer and I kept my old one until it was 11 years old and passed it on to my grandson. Will definitely keep this one for 10 years or more.
