You gotta try one!! by Barry B.C. on 07/27/2012. Trim: 2006 Mazda RX-8 6-Speed, Owned 6 years.
Useful?
Pros: This car is the most fun-to drive ever. I have owned everything from a BMW2002 to a Sunbeam Tiger to an Jag XK120 to an Lotus 7 and there is nothing to compare. And it is a great cross country driver too!! The car has zero maintenance issues --- it just goes like stink. Once you fight you way in ALL 4 seats are comfortable and the trunk is plenty big for just about everything.
Cons: It would be so nice it it had a little more low end torque. And, for the price I should not complain, but the cheap plactic brushed aluminum look-alike interior pieces do not wear well. It is such a great car they could have spent a few hunderd bucks to make it better than everthing else on the road.
Overall review: A fantastic car. I cannot wait until Mazda comes up with the followup vehicle as they promise. I will be one of the first in thier local showroom to have a look and I promise I will buy if it is an even better car than the RX8.

A rare combination of decent performance and unique styling by Mike, Minneapolis on 01/16/2011. Trim: 2006 Mazda RX-8 6-Speed, Owned 4 years.
Useful?
Pros: Handling is stellar, aesthetics are great-a real head-turner, mid to high-end torque is above average to very good, 9000rpm+ redline, quality all around is great, rotary engine smoothness, and best of all: the sound of the engine. Interior feels like you might be piloting a jet fighter.
Cons: Inherent weaknesses of the rotary engine include: 1) only slightly above-average low-end torque. Not a good off-the-line performer unless you go the turbocharger or supercharger route. 2) Below-average fuel efficiency @ around 19-20 mpg..
Overall review: Get the very best snow tires you can afford for this if you drive it in the winter, or store it.
