Worth every penny by CTaylor on 03/24/2010. Trim: 2006 Nissan Xterra SE 4X4, Owned 4 years.

Pros: I was in an accident while pregnant and it was amazing the way it handaled the breaking as well as the traction. Even the damage was much smalled than what I expected to see when I got out of the car. We also own a Frontier, and comparing to it, the turning radius is amazing. It turns very tight.
Cons: Back shocks!!!! They are horrible. It hurts your neck and back if you go over a bump too fast. I have a baby and I have to drive super slow over speed bumps or any other holes in the road for the matter.
Overall review: It is one of the best vehicles we ever owned. I prefer an Xterra over a Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee (owned both) any day.

First and last Nissan by Not impressed in Sudbury on 11/19/2010. Trim: 2006 Nissan Xterra OR 4X4, Owned 4 years.

Pros: Lots of power, looks pretty cool.
Cons: Had to change front brake pads at 22000 k and have all the roters machined. Clamps holding heat shield on exhaust system piddly thin and rotted off causing an annoying rattle. Some kind of clunking coming from the rear end lately with 31000 k. Had to change battery after three years. Two recalls. Not good.
Overall review: Too much trouble.

Great SUV and maybe top off-roader! by Richard-S. Florida and Michigan on 09/10/2009. Trim: 2006 Nissan Xterra S 4X4, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Solid SUV; no rattles or vibrations at any speed. Tow capability is great being up to pulling my boat easily. Was able to buy the OR model skid plates and they went right onto the fittings already there which makes me feels much better when offroad. Gas mileage could be better, but is where all of them are at this time. Plenty of power. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a vehicle for on and off road, towing, etc. Short turning radius is great.
Cons: Could be a little more room in back if it is redesigned. Rear window opening by itself instead of whole door would be a plus. Radio is not great but OK. Tire inflation light goes on sometimes at odd situations, apparently without low air pressure when checked out. A day/night rearview mirror would be nice. Dash lighting is good but takes some getting used to color.
Overall review: Great SUV out the door for under $25K when new; no other comparable on/off roader can even approach this. Awesome off-road capable with great ground clearance and all under there is well tucked in to not be hit or bumped when off road. Have had no major issues and few minor ones that dealer addressed OK. This is a beast and easy to drive at the same time; the height is a big advantage and the short wheel base makes it turn on a dime.

Great Jeep by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/22/2009. Trim: 2006 Nissan Xterra S 4X2, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: Ruggedness, Acceleration, Good gas mileage for SUV, Versatile, Handles good in any type of weather, Great rear visibility, functional interior
Cons: None
Overall review: I bought my Xterra in Dec 08 and have enjoyed it from day one. I love sitting up higher rather than being in a car and it handles really well for an SUV. It isnt too bulky when parking or weaving in and out of traffic. Would recommend to anyone that wants a versatile vehicle that looks great and handles well.
