HYBRID or not a HYBRID? by Odey on 08/23/2011. Trim: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid CVT w/ Navigation System, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: Love the styling, dash board, handling, braking and NAVIGATION / PDA (it's much more than just navigation).
Cons: Poor HYBRID performance. For some reason HONDA can't or won't figure out how to keep these things running like a HYBRID. Mine has a zero deductible extended warranty and they have been replacing and tweaking things (except for the IMA battery) and they can't get it to charge properly, hold a charge, run like a hybrid before 30 minutes of run time, and even then it only runs like a hybrid for about 5 - 10 minutes before the IMA battery is back down to 2 bars and needs to be charged. It handles steep mountain roads like they don't exist at 40mpg (go figure). Road noise is abominable. I mean how do you use voice commands on the NAV without slowing down or pulling over?
Overall review: I want to love it, but the jury is still out. I've had fleeting moments of 42-49 mpg with fun driving, so like my GOLF swing, I know the capability is there, I would just like to have it always. If HONDA ever gets it right (and I'm sure they will) I'll come back and give it a recommend buy...but I can't right now. If I didn't have the extended warranty, I'd be furious right now. But I am frustrated. Sorry HONDA.

Disappointed by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/21/2010. Trim: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid CVT, Owned 4 years.
1
Pros: Much better mileage than my old car, though not nearly the 40mgh advertized.
Cons: After IMA recall, the car has NO pick-up when trying to pull into traffic. This was not the case before the recall. Local dealership informs me now that not only was the IMA battery software upgraded, but 6 other upgrades were applied at the same time, affecting transmission, timing, etc. I would not have bought the car (which I bought new in 2006) if its pickup had been as it is now. Very disappointed.
Overall review: Was great until the degredation of this battery recall.

Is anyone else having this issue? by Natalie from San Antonio, Texas on 10/05/2009. Trim: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid CVT, Owned 3 years.
1
Pros: I love that even though I got my Civic 3 years ago the style is still modern. It also is very comfortable & spacious. My 6' 2" spouse can fit with no problem.
Cons: No power without the charge.
Overall review: I would really like to hear from other reviewers because my charge doesn't last anymore. 5 - 10 minutes after turning on the car & driving the charge is completely gone leaving me with no power. It's very frustrating & I don't remember having this problems within the first 3 years of owning the vehicle. I have taken it back to the dealership where they did an upgrade to the battery but the same thing is still occuring. Has this happened with anyone else?

Watch out for MPG! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 08/17/2008. Trim: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid CVT w/ Navigation System, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros: The quality of this car is top notch. The fit and finish is superb and it drives well.
Cons: The hybrid technology doesn't really give you great mileage. The only way I could sustain 40+mpg was to slow down to 55 mph and run it without the AC. If I drive normally (65+ with AC) I get 36-38 mpg. This is only 2 mpg better than my previous civic. Why did i pay an extra 8K? A sucker for the technology.
Overall review: A solid car that will serve its owner well.
