So Sorry Charlie by Barbara in Georgia on 03/12/2011. Trim: 2006 Nissan Maxima SE, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Have had this Maxima for 3 years. Bought used with 23000 miles. Love the excelleration, sporty body style, roominess, steering wheel controls, overall handling at higher speeds.
Cons: Tranmission issues, turning radius.
Overall review: Transmission is shot at 63000 miles. Nissan unwilling to assist. "Sorry Charlie" approach. See consumer report for logged complaints concerning the 04-06 models. Dealers own technician says it is a common occurance. Until this "common" occurance I would have said it was the very best car I've ever owned. Was a great value, but by adding a $3000.00 new transmission value is diminished. This is my 5th Datsun/Nissan and will be my last. I've always suggested Nissan, but no more. . in fact since Nissan doesn't back their product. . I will no longer recommend them.

Total Rip Off by libtwinmom on 04/02/2014. Trim: 2006 Nissan Maxima SE, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Comfortable seating and stylish
Cons: Transmission started to slip and jerk at 57k miles. There of tons of sites with folks saying that the 2006 model has transmission issues, yet Nissan is doing nothing to resolve that. Having to spend an extra 3k to repair the transmission is terrible when we still have 5 years to pay off the car.
Overall review: I will never purchase another Nissan, EVER.

Great Family Sports Car by Wannabe F1 racer from the midwest on 01/19/2014. Trim: 2006 Nissan Maxima SE, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Accelleration. Handling. Style. Spacious interior and trunk.
Cons: Exterior "chrome" finishes do not hold up well. Front seat is not that confortable. Nav system is a joke.
Overall review: This car is as good as it gets for a family sports car. Comfortably took wife daughter and dog on 8 hr trip. The ride was originally troublesome but since I replaced the tires with Michellin Primacys the ride is now great for a heavy car; you can feel the road and the edge is taken off of the bumps. Fuel economy is ok for a 6 cylinder. I can average 23 city and 29 on a good day. If you have a heavy foot expect 19/24 city/highway and a big smile. This is not an easy car to work on if you are a DYI type and you can't step foot into a dealer for less than $300. Now with sligtly more than 100k on the odometer this car has needed an AC compressor, front struts, and spark plugs (a $400 jobs every 110k). I am worried about the transmission since it is starting to not engage drive cleanly and the sunroof stopped opening correctly and the switch is over $200. There is no timing belt thankfully.

Good car just had transmission jerks by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/16/2013. Trim: 2006 Nissan Maxima SE, Owned 7 years.
Pros: Liked my Maxima but turning radius were terrible and the car had great horsepower everything was great. It was smooth and great styling the sound system was great too and fast sports car with all the buttons.
Cons: Turning radius, transmission slipping.
Overall review: The 2006 Maxima was great but had shortcomings like faulty transmission and bad turning radius. The car was reliable but traded for a 2012 Maxima that's much better. Premium fuel was recommended also got the driver preferred package with navigation. It was a fun car just transmission had issues.
