Pros:
I love this SUV. I have nothing to complain about.
Cons:
Nothing worth mentioning. Anyone buying this vehicle should already be aware of the dismal fuel economy.
Overall review:
An impressive offroad vehicle yet a joy to take down the road.

Ultimate let down!
by Mikey Daddy fron Arizona on 01/05/2012.
Trim: 2006 Jeep Commander 4X2, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
Ride is comfortable and it handles great. The V-8 makes a great sound when you get on the gas.
Cons:
Since buying my jeep I have had quite a few problems. 1- The week we bought it we had to have the gas tank replaced. 2- a year after we bought it the pinion bearing began to go out and caused damage to all of the bearings in the rear-end. 3- Electrical nightmares, headlights will turn off while driving, all of the lights and gauges on dash flash on and turn off randomly and the fan switch quit working on the first three fan speeds, works only on high now (heat and cooling). And it only has 80,000 miles now. Also there is no room behind the third row seats when they are in use. Finally the windsheild is prone to being chipped by rocks kicked up by other vehicles due to being so up and down
Overall review:
I wish I didnt have to hate it! Fell in love with it when we bought it and now would never buy another one.

Overall review:
Wow, what a great Jeep! I recently traded my '99 Volvo for the Jeep and thought I'd be giving up a lot of maneuverability with the Commander but it actually has a 1in tighter turning radius! It's nimble, and fun to drive and has plenty of power. My whole family quickly fell in love with the Commander. It's got the 4.7L (I'd avoid the 3.7) rear air, DVD player and leather. Just nice enough to be nice. It is my first American car and I'm just so impressed with it. There are some unbelievable deals to be had on these vehicles as well. The Commander will be discontinued in the US after 2010 (in fact, production already ended a while back) and so Jeep is trying hard to get rid of the new ones. My '06 is every single bit as nice as the new ones. The gas mileage is as bad as they say, but you're getting into a 5,000 lb vehicle, that's gonna happen. I encourage families who want an SUV with some flexibility to check out the Commander. Comfortable, powerful, and pretty affordable!

A True Commander...
by JT - Tennessee on 05/14/2010.
Trim: 2006 Jeep Commander Limited 4X4, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Large and very roomy without being cumbersome to drive and manuever in traffic.
Lots of head room and comfortable seating. Passenger row sunroof in Limited package.
Reliable 4.7L V8 engine.
Very strong when pulling or hauling, excellent 4x4 capabilities.
Cons:
Even when the third row seats are down, the cargo/storage area is smaller than expected.
Excellent when pulling or hauling but slightly sluggish when accelerating at highway speeds.
Overall review:
I would purchase this Jeep again and reccommend it to friends. Exceeds my needs as a multipurpose vehicle capable of going anywhere while being a comfortable, stylish ride.
