Worst car I have ever owned, would not recommend anyone buying any model of volkswagon! Volkwagon corporation, and their dealers are liars, and do not stand behind there cars. I have had transmission problems, car won' t start in weather below 40 degrees due a malfunction in instrument cluster that imobilizes car quoted $700.00 to fix this issue, after spending $200.00 for new battery I didn't need thanks to dealer.

Pros:
got it used at vw had 60,000 on it 2 years ago has 85,000 now tdi motor no problems injoy the 40$ to fill up and 530 miles it gets cant go wrong now a days,it has heated mirrors seats moon roof custom rims all stock never goina sell it

Easy to drive, great gas mileage, looks good, comfortable
Cons:
Bought this car new, but temperature light always comes on when the car is started and stays on for about 2 miles of driving. Reported to dealer and was told they could find nothing wrong.. Headlight has been replaced, which was very expensive.

Pros:
Option package 2 & DSG was a good choice. Great mileage (35-40), fairly reliable, great transmission and engine.
Very open inside (at least in the front seats). Tows well behind motorhome.
Rare diesel (last year of the New Beetle diesel).
Cons:
Electric window sensors are sensitive to gunk in the window channels - this causes the phantom "roll back down" behavior.
Electric rear trunk release was hard for dealer to adjust correctly.
Center Console armrest broke (with help from kids).
Front headlights periodically get loose in fender socket. On this model, the headlight assembly plugs in to the socket on the car. You have to pull it out and put it back in again.
Overall review:
Bought it new for wife in Dec 06. Now has 50K miles on it. Very trouble-free, except for the headlight assembly.
