The undead Geo "Gus" by SupaFlyJedi from Utah on 04/23/2011. Trim: 1997 Geo Prizm LSi, Owned 10 years.

Pros: IT WILL NOT DIE! I bought this car used in 2001 and had 27k on the odometer, since then it has been run over a ditch, hit a Subaru (the insurance totalled it but we got it back to working order), rear ended by a Chevy van, had sometimes 6,000 miles between oil changes (synthetic) I have put well over 100k miles on this car (odo broke at 135k), had a 40 oz diet Coke dumped on the gearshift, overloaded it (ski rack with ladder, and loaded down with satellite receivers and related equipment). Does really well in the snow with studded snow tires and even all terrain tires. After all the abuse it still gets an average of 31-34 mpg combined freeway and city.
Cons: Very minor, mostly annoying things. The A/C knobs all broke off, so we're down to one, the cd player won't play cd's for some reason, very rarely has trouble starting with extreme temp changes (really cold at night, real hot in the morning) which only necessitates another try and it's up and running. Seems to eat brake pads faster than other cars, but at $50/pair it's a cheap fix. Same with windshields, but at $150 a piece, still won't break the bank. Would've liked ABS.
Overall review: A very good small family and commuter car, most maintenance can be done yourself (oil, battery changes, etc) and parts should be around for a long time. Would recommend to anyone who's on a budget or looking for a run around car.

Can't Go Wrong - Love this car by An MSN Autos Consumer on 10/09/2008. Trim: 1997 Geo Prizm LSi, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: I found a one owner car a couple months ago with 74,000 orginal miles and got it much less then anything I could find. Build quality is excellent and fun to drive. City and highway driving check twice and get 31.5 MPG and is unbelievable. Have not checked it on a long road trip but imagine could get 40 MPG. This car has cruise control and tach which is hard to find in this car and like these features. Parts are easy to find and reasonable to buy. Car is easy to work on. Perfect commuter car but still very comfortable on the highway.
Cons: I have large feet and can be a problem hitting the gas peddle on a start as I seem to get my foot stuck on the air duck next to the peddle. Car is from California and paint is faded from the sun pumpers look like orginal color while rest of the paint is faded seems low quality but no rust so who cares and still looks ok.
Overall review: Can't go wrong if you can still find a good quality used one. I looked into the 98 to 2002 Corolla/Prizm and learned they burn oil. The 03 and 04 Corolla 5-speed I hear falls apart. The 93-97 Prizm/Corolla has excellent rep for reliablity and is likely the best years. Prizm is same car just sells for less.

Pros: have owned a prism for 4 years now. Bought it used with 71,000 miles on it. It now has 179,000 and still going strong. Having it painted for my daughter's 16 birthday. It will now go to her. Not a problem in the world with it. Trunk release broke never fixed it. My husband has been using it to travel to work 130 miles a day. Very reliable. Would buy another if i could find one. Anyone looking for a low mantiance low cost good fuel car this is definitly it.
Cons: Trunk release button broke off easily.
Overall review: Best car we ever had.

Reliable & Economical by Butch from Normal on 11/30/2002. Trim: 1997 Geo Prizm Base, Owned 5 years.

Overall review: I have owned 3 vehicles of this line. I had a 1987 Nova, a 1993 Prizm, and a 1997 Prizm. I reached well over 125,000 on each vehicle. The first one had transmission trouble at 10,000 miles. Neither of the other two vehicles ever required more than routine maintenance. This has to be one of the most reliable and at the same time economical vehicle lines GM ever produced.
