Issues with head gasket (same problems noted in the 2005 model) and heater switch. Both are costly repairs and not covered under recall. (And happened promptly after warranty up). Sad to find similar issues for other Equinox owners.
Overall Review:
Born and Raised GM family but lost loyalty with this car.
We bought this car brand new in 2006. It is possibly one of the best cars we ever owned. rides quiet, good gas mileage, comfortable and the traction control feature.
nice stying, decent in the snow, and great for familys. Picked this suv over the others because the back seat is very roomy. Most vehicles cant have a rear facing child seat directly behind a front seat but there is plenty of room in the Equinox.
Cons:
13-14 MPG around town and not much better on the HWY. CD player only lasted a few years and because of the disign it cost a small fortune to replace. Sometimes takes a few extra seconds to start or may run funny for a few seconds after start up. This usualy onlyn happens in hot weather. I had my dealer check it out and was told that Equinoxes just do that sometimes and not to worry about it. the AWD system works good in the snow but makes a noise like a thrashing machine at the rear axle. Once agian the dealer and the owners manual say this is completely normal.
Overall Review:
Overall we have been happy with are Equinox. Its a good family SUV with lots of room for kids and gear inside and a roof rack on top for your toys. The biggest problem with this thing is the poor gas mileage.
I like the very smooth ride. It is very good in the snow and ice.
Cons:
I feel the interior could have been a little sturdier. The cupholder is in a very awkward spot. I also do not like the fabric of my seats. It shows every little stain and is not easy to keep clean. I wish I had gotten the leather seats.
Overall Review:
I still feel the Equinox is a great car and love driving it.
the cargo space for the size of the SUV is amazing. I love that you can move the bench seat forward/back to accommodate a lot! Drives nice, decent mileage, plenty of cupholders (even if awkward placement)
Cons:
front cupholder area is very awkward! could use a glasses holder (in roof - i'm spoiled from my other car), window controls are a bit awkward as well (but i owned a previous saturn with the controls in the same place, so i'm used to them), seats aren't as comfortable as they could be
Overall Review:
GREAT vehicle for the size/price. too bad we have a huge black lab and a baby now - we might need a slightly bigger SUV if we decide to have another baby. Otherwise, this is a great car, I love it!
