Love My XC90 by Tostik from the Colorado foothills on 01/12/2012. Trim: 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T, Owned 4 years.
Pros: If you like comfort, this is the car for you--best car seats ever. If you you like utility, this is the car for you--best in class cargo space, and 7 seats if needed. Safety second to none. Fantastic ride, always under control even at high speeds, very maneuverable for a heavy SUV, and very peppy off the line.
Cons: Poor visibility when backing.
Overall review: Moderately good gas mileage for a heavy SUV--but use premium gas as Volvo recommends. You'll get your money's worth because you'll get better gas mileage + better performance from your engine. The sense of luxury is very high in this car--I look forward to driving it every day. Good reliability--only one major problem in 3 years of ownership--right front bearing went out--$450. Need to do high quality brakes and tires because it does tend to 'eat' these 2 items a little faster than normal. Great in snow--AWD does a good job.

Nice to look at…on the lift at the service center by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/14/2007. Trim: 2006 Volvo XC90 V8, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Looks Acceleration Breaking
Cons: Quaility Service Comfort
Overall review: I really liked this SUV when it first came out. The exterior is very attractive and it’s got a lot of get up and go. Unfortunately, it’s the least reliable vertical I’ve ever owned. 3 weeks after I bought it, it left me stranded 250 miles from home. Turned out to be a simple loose wire issue, but getting the local dealer to look at it was impossible (I had to have towed from Baltimore to NY just to have a wired connected) Two weeks later the battery inexplicably died (no biggy). But as a rule, I seem to have to take my XC90 to the dealer at least twice a month due to some warning light or warning message. >>>Do yourself a favor, skip this car. <<< Don’t be suckered in by the nice lines and V8 like I was. The quality of the vehicle and the quality of the service it receives do not match the $50K price tag. As a side note: To put a baby car seat in the back requires the front passenger seat to be all the way forward. Not as family friendly as one might expect from a Volvo.

Overall good vehicle by New Philly boy on 02/03/2009. Trim: 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Per the previous review: you can take the vehicle to the dealer to have them program the locks to lock automatically when the vehicle goes into motion. Overall a great vehicle. Have the 3rd row seats which are convenient for kid hauling, not adults. AWD is works well in snow and rain. Great sound in the premium sound system.
Cons: Not enough engine/torque/hp. Not well integrated gadgets as with other luxury SUVs.
Overall review: No mechanical problems at all. I also had problems with Pirelli tires, but only went through one pair at about 17k miles.

Great Safe, Truley Sporty yet family car! by From Central Valley, CA on 12/05/2008. Trim: 2006 Volvo XC90 V8, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Very Stylish, very comfy, very elegant, the Leather interior is unbeatable. best purchase i have ever made.
Cons: About 18 mpg average, (that's only a 1 mpg less than the V6 model, but you get extra 75 hp and an incredible kick that you you won't feel in any other same size SUV. Guaranteed!! Stereo with awesome speakers, but no aux for the ipod, (so what? :)
Overall review: Nice ride, tight, you will need few days to get used to it's 6 speed transmission though,
