A pleasure to own by Old Geezer on 08/24/2011. Trim: 2006 Buick LaCrosse CXL, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Purchased this vehicle new to replace a 98 Buick Century with 131,000 miles. 06 LaCrosse now has 73,000 miles and has been virtually trouble free. Vehicle has excellent roadability and comfort and has been superb for "road trips" All interior finishes are showing little or no wear . The positive experience with this 06 prompted me to buy an additional new 2009 LaCrosse CXL which now has 23,000 miles.
Overall review: This 06 LaCrosse was plagued with the "knocking steering shaft" problem that came from the factory on many 05 and 06 LaCrosses and I understand some Chevrolets. Had car back to dealer several times between 20,000 and 50,000 miles for "factory fixes" which did not work. Finally, in early 2010, factory found a permanent fix with a new steering shaft design and corrected the problem in my vehicle as though still in warranty although odometer had 60,000 miles. Have had no problem since. If you own one of these cars and hear a rattle or knock in the steering at low speeds check with a dealer about the steering shaft.

Needs Improvement and a vigilant buyer by Normally vigilant and carefull Driver on 03/31/2011. Trim: 2006 Buick LaCrosse CXL, Owned 2 years.
Pros: The power of the 3.8 litre engine.
Cons: The original paint job (can see peeling) and the molding in the car was not installed correctly. At 125,000 miles, I have had to change the all four struts, new battery, new tires, 4 wheel alignment and we still cannot find why there is a rattle (after spending $ 200 more ) when the car hits a series of small bumps. There is also "excessive play" in the bearings or the steering may be the culprits. To fix the bearings and the steering assembly is about $ 800 respectively. The mechanic is trustworthy. I bought the car based on the rating given on this website.
Overall review: I think I may have had my fill of Buicks for a while, There is information on line that Buick is aware of the problem and it may be related to the steering assembly. Buick should let us know what it is so that it can be fixed

Smooth elegant driving by Tb_buick on 02/10/2014. Trim: 2006 Buick LaCrosse CX, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Smooth comfortable ride, lots of compliments from all kinds of people. Once it gets rolling can be very fast
Cons: Pick up could be better without stepping on the pedal too hard. Backseat after a long time of riding can become uncomfortable
Overall review: Great car. I have had a few issues with mine but it also has a lot of miles on it. Something I did think GM was pretty poor for was placement of certain sensors making labor cost a bit much to repair. Still overall pretty satisfied though have had a couple opportunities to get rid of the car but cant seem to part ways with it. Great car as long as its maintained
