Good one! by Norm - Vancouver Washington on 04/20/2008. Trim: 2006 BMW 530xi Sports Wagon, Owned 2 years.
Pros: We have leased his vehicle since fall of 2006. Milage has been excellent i.e. average with local and freeway travel currently at 25 mpg ! We like everything about it - except - my wife complains that the front passenger side seat is not comfortable on long trips. I like the driver's side seat with the various controls for long trips. We owned a 2003 745 LI previously which was great for long trips but a pain with problems needing dealer service. the 530xi rarely needs anything!
Cons: See above
Overall review: We will be turning this vehicle in this fall and will be looking for a new vehicle with at least 25-30 average MPG

useful package : could use more power by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/12/2007. Trim: 2006 BMW 530xi Sports Wagon, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Very stable and comfortable on the highway.
Cons: Car feels underpowered. Idrive is not intuitive and too complex for simple actions. More pricy than Audi.
Overall review: Comfortable, very useful with hatch, more fun to drive than minivan. New model with turbo engine will help acceleration.

The New face of Wagons.. by Chuck on 12/28/2006. Trim: 2006 BMW 530xi Sports Wagon, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: This car handles like a true solid sports car. The X feature keeps all four wheels actively on the road and adjusting to what the driver, me, needs. The interior apppointments are luxurious, and thoughtful. I have never felt safer in a vehicle. Standard adjustable cargo netrs makes my canine family a snap to haul around, and cargo bins make daily shopping easy to store. The 4 year full maintenance is a worthy prize, and I have yet to see the underside of the cars hood. Performance, style, and practicality, no regrets here.
Cons: My aprticular service dealership is overwhelmed, and my saervice times are usually long due to this. I have had to have all four windows recalibrated, the Concierge service repaired, and an unusual defect in the door. But always, I get a BMW loaner.
Overall review: This car truly blends the lines, as a single male, I feel completed empowered by this car, its magnificent oversized sunroof make it awesome for roadtrips.

Are you ready to have an all-in-one vehicle? by Vitix2 on 04/13/2006. Trim: 2006 BMW 530xi Sports Wagon, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The styling is a plus. It's a wagon without really feeling like a wagon - neither visually nor in terms of handling. My neighbors and friends are quicker to refer to it as a hybrid SUV than a wagon. I don't know where they get that from, but that seems to be the response I get. Luxury, athleticism, hauling ability, good in rain and snow, and enough gadgets to keep passengers and tecnophiles indulged. Interior space is deceptively large. Once I'm in the vehicle, it feels like I'm riding in a big car. Oh, the headlights are great, and seat adjustment (even on the standard seat) is far more than adequate. Rear & side visibility is also great-no blind spots.
Cons: The turn signal stalk is a pain in the XXX. Engaging it is no problem, but when disengaging, it is too easy to move the lever past the neutral position and engage the opposite turn signal. I have not found the iDrive system to be nearly as bad as reviewers have claimed. The brakes seem like they could be firmer. I have to depress the brake pedal too far and too hard to get the stopping power that I want. At times the adaptive steering seems great, and at times I question the need for such technology. It's not bad, just - why? The size of the door openings are small, but once in, I'm fine. There is plenty of space.
Overall review: Good car. It is everything that I anticipated and more. Plus, it has great interior size, and the handling is BMW precise and smooth. More power would not hurt. But, I guess added fuel consumption would. I never truly feel that the vehicle is underpowered for normal driving, but to get going quickly or to change speeds quickly, you've got to be deliberate. It took me a long time to decide on which vehicle to purchase. I test drove the Saab, Volvo V70, Audi, Mercedes, and Subaru Wagons, and ultimately, decided on the ultimate. The price of this car made me gag, and I'm still gaging. However, I never feel short changed when I'm driving it, and all of the competitors had there own drawbacks.

Sport Wagon Without Equal by DG from Boise on 03/25/2006. Trim: 2006 BMW 530xi Sports Wagon, Owned 1 year.
Pros: A fine car which easily out handles the competition and the good milage is a bonus. Four years without maintenance costs.
Cons: The front end is nothing to write home about. More storage space in the front passenger portion of the car would be nice.
Overall review: It will out handle most cars on the road, the gas milage is actually about 30 mpg on the highway and the power is more than adequate. And then I have all wheel drive and four years of free maintenance. A great package!
