Nothing but Junk by lee on 07/11/2012. Trim: 2006 BMW 5-Series 525xi Sedan, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Looks great, handles great
Cons: Too many problems. Replaced battery 3 times, new radiator at 50K, replaced air bag sensors, computer, differential, stering column, replaced defective brakes at 15K, and had the transmittion serviced at 70K because it wouldn't change gears properly. Car stayed in shop for other electrical issues more than in my garage. Unloaded it at 75K.
Overall review: Will never have another BMW. Too expensive to repair. If something broke on a weekend while on vacation, there would be no where to repair it until it could be towed to a dealership on Monday.

ultimate handling machine by Mike D on 04/26/2009. Trim: 2006 BMW 5-Series 530xi Sedan, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Very nice looking car. Excellent handling and acceleration! BMW pays for all the scheduled maint on this vehicle including the brake pads and wipers while under warranty.
Cons: Limited leg room in rear. For the price of this car a lot of available options should be standard.
Overall review: Car handles well as expected...it's the ultimate driving machine. Experienced a few mechanical problems during the first couple of months of ownership. Car would not start. Had to bring it to the BMW dealership three times before they successfully corrected the problem. Very embrassing to have such a nice expensive car not start. Most recently the check coolant level light kept coming on. After adding coolant it re-appeared in a couple of weeks. The dealership replaced the radiator. Luckily the car was still under warranty and I did not have to pay anything for both of these jobs. But it makes me wonder what lies for me in the future when the warranty has expired. I have the Xi model and it handles well in the snow with decent tires. If you like a car that handles exceptionally well and at high speeds, I would highly recommend this vehicle. But be prepared to expect this car to spend some time in the BMW service department.

"Problematic" by Mike on 04/14/2009. Trim: 2006 BMW 5-Series 525i Sedan, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Handling, performance, looks.
Cons: So many electrical problem. I was told about this before and didn't pay attention thinking that the new models would not have any problems. I get one thing fixed, two weeks later another problem. If you want to buy this car make sure you live close to BMW dealership and have extended warranty.
Overall review: Don't get this car without warranty. Parts are expensive.

in driving heaven by 30yrold driver from washington dc on 05/31/2009. Trim: 2006 BMW 5-Series 530xi Sedan, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Love the way it accelerates, brakes and handles. All cars should learn something from BMW.
Overall review: this is my first BMW and not my last for sure. Going for a 6 soon. Have owned a vareity of cars in the past both american and japanese. Nothing comes close to a bmw, the way it drives, the fit/finish and materials. it accelerates like a rocket.

Happy owner and glad I purchased it. by coadster on 01/31/2009. Trim: 2006 BMW 5-Series 530i Sedan, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Handles like a racecar. Looks awesome and feels like it is built out of one solid piece of steel. Very good mileage. Overall extremely happy (and know several friends who have it too, and they all feel the same)
Cons: Nothing really.
Overall review: Great car which rivals the prior 5 series (and that is not easy to do). Purchased CPO, it is a bargain!
