E-350 is awesome!!! by Doced on 03/02/2011. Trim: 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350, Owned 2 years.
Pros: The performance of the E-350 is excellent! The handling, acceleration and braking are incredible.
Cons: The road noise is a bit too much for my liking, the tires could be the answer, they are not original equipment.
Overall review: I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a performance sedan with super safety. Almost the whole car is steel!!!!

Beware of Lurking Problems by Disillusioned MB Owner on 06/05/2013. Trim: 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Has tight handling and is a comfortable highway car
Cons: The vehicle was a 4-matic AWD. Mercedes has had a problem with the transfer case and recalled and replaced about 12,000. (Without fanfare) In a slow speed tight turn such as parking there is a very pronounced chatter. Their fix was to use a different lubricant in the case. This solves the problem for about 30k miles. However, according to their service bulletin when it comes back the only solution is to replace the case ($4,300.00 plus two days labor.) At this point the vehicle is most probably out of extended warranty. The best MB will do is give you $500 of a new or CPO vehicle after you make your best deal with a dealer. However your trade in has dropped $6,000.
Overall review: This is the 3rd MB I have owned. Overall I liked the features and ride. I did have a major engine problem which fortunately was covered under the extended warranty. However, I am very disappointed in Mercedes to knowingly try to cover up an engineering defect and not step up to the plate. It would be one thing if mine was a random transfer case that failed, but to know that there is a problem, develop a special lubricant to temporarily fix it and acknowledge that when the problem comes back the owner is stuck for the cost does not seem ethical. I bought MB's for their engineering and longevity. Went 456k on my first and over 300k on my second. Now at 155k this is toast. I doubt I would buy one again and would caution anyone looking at a 4-matic to seriously research the vehicle. If you do buy, plan on getting rid of it as soon as the warranty is up.
