Overrated, Over-priced
by Andrew, Markham Ontario, Canada on 11/30/2010.
Trim: 2005 BMW X5 3.0i, Owned 5 years.

Pros:
- Great appearance
- Excellent braking power and very good handling.
- Takes corner better then what's expected from a large vehicle
- Comfortable seating, capable of handling full capacity without hearing passenger complaints
- Love the panaramic sunroof
- Decent factory sound system with DVD for the rear passenger
Cons:
- Interior design is very boring
- No digital display (Cluster)
- Many parts are made out of cheap plastic which falls and breaks easily
- Had the replace a small piece of decorative PLASTIC on the interior door panel for 600 BUCK! That part cracked after my seatbelt hit it
- Curb side mirror works when it wants to. Had that mirror replaced 3 times and the problem still exist!
- Air flow sensor had to be replaced along with a few hoses
- Consistant transmission problem
- Engine has absolutely no power with the 3.0 version
- Parts and labour is astronomical but again, its a BMW
- WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
- Buy one if you enjoy spending time at the service centre
NEVER AGAIN!
Overall review:
This vehicle looks good, but, is FAR FROM GOOD!!! To be honest, it does make me feel safe to be driving in because of it's strong structure and excellent braking system, but, I do not have the time to go visit the BMW service centre every other week. Town and Country BMW l(ocated at Markham Ontario, Canada) has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER BMW again due to their poor customer service and BMW's disappointed quality!

Sports Package X5
by Orangetiger on 11/16/2010.
Trim: 2005 BMW X5 3.0i, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
Looks, styling and handling, quick on turns for a SUV
Cons:
Have the Sports Package ride is to rough. I have owned a 2004 Landcrusier, a 2000 Danalia, they all rode much better but were not as agile.
Overall review:
A good looking right size SUV.

Sell before 50,000 miles
by Two-time beamer owner ONLY!!! on 03/13/2009.
Trim: 2005 BMW X5 3.0i, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
These are great SAV's at first. Comfort and handling are great.
Cons:
Get ready after 50,000 to pay for repairs. This is my 2nd BMW and it seems after about 50,000 miles the electric components go out. Had to replace CV boots at 44,000. Seems that BMW technicans are poorly trained or either dont care. They have replaced door panels w/o properly attaching them,Steering wheel was put on crooked, forgot to reset oil change indicator, serpentine belt replaced at 50,000,Oil reservoir hoses needed replacing at 50,000..Going Japenese next. Want more quality.
Overall review:
These are great ego or status vehicles but, get a good warranty. Once you wake up you'll want Japanese for quality.

Ultimate drive back and forth to the dealer.
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/28/2008.
Trim: 2005 BMW X5 3.0i, Owned 3 years.
1
Pros:
Styling inside and outside.
Cons:
Troublesome issues with the front end. Steering rack, strut bushings, clutch packs and now the half-shaft all have had to be replaced over the past year. Car had to be towed into the dealer once. Engine uses some oil. My last BMW was much more reliable. Engine has power but for the money, this vehicle should be able to out-run a Honda Accord.
Overall review:
I bought this SUV new and now have about 35k miles. It is great to drive and gives confidence in heavy rain or snow. Handling in the mountains is great too. The interior is very nice and the seats comfortable- especially good on long trips. But the 2nd-3rd year of ownership have been problematic. I have averaged a warranty repair every other month. I felt badly that I didn't invite the service manager to my son's graduation.
