The best car e-v-e-r by Daphne from Dartmouth on 09/23/2009. Trim: 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This is the fourth Jetta TDI I have owned in the past 15 years. I swear by them. They are tough in the winter, I have a 5 speed which is great in lots of snow, but you need 4 snow tires of course, and the fuel economy is fantastic. Lately with fuel prices being almost $1.00 a litre I use about $50. a month on fill-ups and that's 850 kms+ I have also totalled one of my cars in a side impact crash and was hurt very little. The centre post in a side-impact will protect you well.
Cons: No cons whatever
Overall review: Generally, everyone should own a reliable, economical, fuel efficient and yes, environmentally friendly, VW Jetta. There would be many more happy drivers.

Power for a good price by Gogogodzilla on 05/11/2005. Trim: 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The interior fit and finish are the best I've seen for a small car. The seats do a very good job at supporting the driver. Lumbar support for the long drives and strong side bolstering for cornering. Performance is great, but can always be better. Handling is a dream. External styling still harkens back to the old GTI's of yore. (which is a good thing!)
Cons: I wish the seats were adjusted by lever, not a wheel. Could use more power. (What? All cars could use more power!) The radio needs to be placed higher up on the center console.
Overall review: Great power, great handling, great interior, great exterior = GREAT CAR. And it has a pretty reasonable price tag for all those goodies, too. There are a few minor details that could be adjusted, but they are not a major inconvenience. (see the 'con' section)

The Original (and still the best) Pocket Rocket by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/28/2005. Trim: 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Snap-your-head back acceleration, very solid feeling, minimal body roll on tight turns. Fold down back seats and remove back panel and you have an enormous amount of room for hauling stuff around.
Cons: Finding the right seat combination can take a little maneuvering. Hatch doesn't fit a set of golf clubs without folding seat down.
Overall review: This car is in a league by itself at this price point. Run, don't walk to your nearest dealer and drive one today.

The hottest little rocket by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/27/2005. Trim: 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This car is very solid. I purchased it new and I now have 8800 miles on it. It is also very fast! and handles very well. I can see what all the hype is about on these vehicles. They also have outstanding resale value. It is in my opinion the best of both worlds.
Cons: The ride is tuned a little harshly but, overall is it a very enjoyable vehicle. My girlfriend thinks the car is too small. She wants me to get an SUV
Overall review: Love it and I would buy this car again. I would recommend this car to anyone who loves something high quality, fast, fun and with good resale value

The ultimate pocket rocket by Jonathan on 01/25/2005. Trim: 2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Very peppy, the 1.8T engine seems to always have power in reserve, you just press the pedal and wohooo you go every time. If you are not sure about this car, go try it, you'll be convinced if you like to drive. Interior is great and functionnal, seat are really confy and they hold you in place tight. I like the fact that you feel safe in the car, it feels rock solid, it's a VW after all. I love my car so much, it's a pleasure to drive and I'm never buying anything else but VW in the future, they are great cars, there is also so many little details in every aspect of the car.
Cons: None really, expect the fact that it's easy to go fast and get tickets cause it's so fun to drive this car and even over 100mph, it's still sticks to the road and feels very safe, Amazing car! Can't wait to try the new generation Golf that is supposed to be even better!
Overall review: Overall, it's a great car, very pepy, very sporty, but also civilized for every day driving to work or the grocery store and the power is always there under your right foot when you want it. Vw engineers are really good at making suspensions that stick to the road but are confortable for every day driving. It probably handle way better than the guy next door supped up civic and you don't get bumped arround when you drive it like if they were no suspension at all ;-) And I tell you after spending over 10 000$ on car mods, just go buy a car like the GTI, and you got yourself a pocket rocket out of the box, plus it's guaranted by VW for 4years on everything. Finally, I know, it's not like that everywhere, but so far, service at the dealership has been amazing, nothing to say about that.
