Far Superior Offroading / Onroad Capabilities by Ted on 04/18/2005. Trim: 2005 Land Rover Range Rover HSE, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Seats are VERY cozy Amazing sound system Nice lowering/raising air suspension (for easy entry/exit) Extremely low MSRP for what it has (I'd say this is a SUV version of a Rolls Royce, coming form first hand experience) Good "taste" car Best styling of any car/truck on the market (But it's a hate it or love it car, as for the styling) It's BETTER not having seats in the trunk - it keeps "THE range rover" image upkept without those "Fastfood families" buying this car. Trunk is spacious Rear seat comfort is nice. Rear Heated seats + AC/heating Easy to customize (TV's in the headrest, coon wheels, etc)
Cons: Extremely low gas milage. (I get 12.1 mpg average) Screwy Navigation System (on 04' models) Needs an engine upgrade for better pickup (Still better than most SUV's, but could use an improvement. Improved Jaguar engine in 2006 models) Questionable quality on some areas (like the side cupholder which feels like it will snap, and the areas around the speakers in the trunk.)
Overall review: This is a review from an ACTUAL owner of a 2004 Range Rover.

Luxury/utility with solid street manners by Team Yonex on 05/31/2005. Trim: 2005 Land Rover Range Rover HSE, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Luxury that is utilized every time I drive the vehicle. Feels roomier than competition. Plenty of rear seat leg room. Perfect blend of BMW and Land Rover. Styling has a good chance of remaining contemporary for years to come. Luxury interior package is like sitting in Nordstroms. Voice recognition very accurate. Integration of systems, including phone, very handy. Nokia 6230 Bluetooth works great. Like driving a portable office. Top of the line Michelin Synchrone tires standard, can expect long treadwear. Brand has continued to build on a strong heritage and is widely recognized as top of its class. Retains the "utility" in SUV. Errs on side of luxury, not street performance.
Cons: Aerodynamics are such that the rear gets dirty very fast. In rain, pools of standing water accumulate on the hood, even at freeway speeds. Need to offer a non-smoking option so the "ashtray" space isn't wasted. Steering wheel could be slightly larger in circumference. Would like to see a more advanced keyless entry system.
Overall review: I was either going to buy a Cayenne S or the RR. In May '05, both brands were heavily discounted to make room for refreshed '06 versions. Got a black RR with charcoal/jet lux package for 1% over invoice. I figured the luxury of the RR was something I'd enjoy every time I drove the vehicle, whereas the performance of the Porsche would probably just get me in trouble. I'd been driving a Disco for 8 years, so finally getting into the RR was a real treat. It is immediately a beautiful combination of BMW and Land Rover, and asserts itself as the kind of vehicle I'll have for another 8 years, at least. Buying experience was all business. Dealership in Bellevue, WA has a strong reputation for service, which I can attest to. My experience has been that Land Rover takes meaningful measures to separate itself from other brands in terms of service. It's not cheap, but worth it IMO. Still desire a Porsche, but a 911, not a Cayenne. RR is a cruiser, not a racecar, and I like it.

The best luxury SUV. by Teekster, Tonka Bay, MN on 05/17/2005. Trim: 2005 Land Rover Range Rover HSE, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Styling, ride, Comfort
Cons: Although the interior is amazing, it has lost the 'upscale British' feel of previous Range Rovers.
Overall review: This is my 2nd Range Rover (previous was a 2002 HSE). This vehicle is leaps and bounds better than the previous generation. There is no better SUV.

No substance, just an illusion. by Will Ham on 11/22/2013. Trim: 2005 Land Rover Range Rover HSE.
Pros: Well gosh, it's a "Range Rover". Celebrities that have cash to -literally- burn, drive them, so they must be cool! Leather dual color piping on the seats is cool, wood grain interior is decent.
Cons: What a joke this truck is. They advertise it being a safari-esque vehicle... I wouldn't want to drive further than ten miles from my house in this thing. I have never EVER seen a vehicle end up on a flat bed tow truck more than this vehicle. Land Rover should go out of business. They have no quality of work, zero reliability, and a half assed dealer network. A Jeep Wrangler or Toyota FJ Cruiser or Land Cruiser are light years ahead of what the Range Rover will ever be. It's all looks and no substance. It's almost an insult to buyers for Land Rover to allow such poor reliability.
Overall review: Buy a salvaged one without an engine to park in your driveway so people see the "status" that it supposedly has. Other than that, they hold no true use. I'd buy a 300,000 mile Kia before I bought another Land Rover. Steer Clear!
