Pros:
fun to drive...get lots of compliments on the looks of the car, but I never recommend owning one to anybody when they ask how I like it!!
Cons:
all four window mechanisms have broken, with one breaking twice!! very expensive to fix....I don't even use the windows that much..car loses power when gas level falls below 1/4 tank...dangerous!! lining around back window sags blocking some vision...won't buy another vw...and the dealership is extremely annoying to deal with...I don't even bother taking it to the dealer anymore..it doesn't meet the criteria for a lemon car but is sure meets the criteria for junk!!!
Overall review:
sorry I purchased this...

Pros:
I love driving it, the color (pink) having the top down and it's just fun. It's a warm weather car not for winter driving.
Cons:
The windows jump up & down then they break and won't go down at all. The back window is falling out and it leaks. It is very delicate. I have ripped the door handles off, the hood latch & the front seat levers for the back release. It drives ok but you have to watch the road all the time or you're somewhere you don't want to be. Not a car for teenagers, texting or inattention. If it sits for more than 2 days the battery needs to be charged or it won't start.
Overall review:
The new VW conv. beetle does not compare to the older versions. My 1975 was metal, had a head liner, padding & then a better material for the convertible top. No problem with the back window & you could roll the windows with regular hand cranks. Everything is electrcal in the newer ones & if something gets wet or sorts you're screwed. This is my mid-life crisis car but won't buy another and not recommended for teenagers.

TDI is Great!!!

Pros:
I bought the car as a commuter car once fuel prices went through the roof. The diesel engine is very powerful and quick. The car is fun to drive and the fuel mileage averages 40mpg on the highway! The handling feels like a sports car!
Cons:
The rear window leaks!!! We have taken it back to the dealer several times and they keep "fixing" it to no avail. The rear hatch often requires two attempts to open. Be ware of driving in heavy winds it can be a bit scary. The rear end gets light above 72mph, VW should have installed the automatic rear spoiler on all models because of the cars aerodynamic properties.
Overall review:
A Great car with a few quirks, but what car doesn't have its issues. Buy it with realistic expectations and you'll enjoy it as much as we do. The kids (ages 2 and 5) love "their" Slug Bug, and so do mom and dad!
