Wish My Wife Let Me Drive it More by Mark in Massachusetts on 02/11/2010. Trim: 2005 Volvo XC70 Cross Country, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Great "euro" styling, has decent acceleration and tight handling. Has nice little add-ons like the integrated child booster seats, and the subfloor storage bin in the back. We have not had one single problem with this car since we bought it (used in 08), and the bulletproof inline 5 cylinder engine is great! Why did Audi ever get rid of I5s?
Cons: A bit of a bumpy ride, but then again, the XC is supposed to be a little stiffer and more rugged than the standard V70s. Backseats are cramped for most people (I'm 6'5" and there is no way I can fit back there). Not that great on gas (average about 19.5 mpg) considering its only a 2.5. The passenger "Oh Crap!" handle is in an awkward position next to the shifter (making it fairly useless) and sweats condensation when you warm the car up from freezing (because its metal).
Overall review: Love this car! And my wife likes it even more which is why she gets to drive it every day! An impressive mix of style, performance, and safety that you don't come across very often. I would definately recommend this to family and friends and will most likely buy another Volvo some day.

Luxurioius Wagon by Rick from Fair Lawn, NJ on 06/14/2006. Trim: 2005 Volvo XC70 Cross Country, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Safety, styling, convenient cargo area, great acceleration and handling. Overall comfortable seating, plenty of interior driver and passenger room. Also dealing with Volvo dealer is a pleasure.
Cons: Gas milage could be improved. I average about 19-21 mpg. Clock is too much on driver's side; would be better located centered on front panel. There is a hand bar for the passenger on center console that is metal...it gets hot in summer. It should have been wrapped in leather.
Overall review: I really love this car. I've been able to transport huge cargo loads easily. Steering is very responsive; reaction to the accelerator pedal is immediate and the turbocharged engine allows gives additional power when needed. The styling is attractive and the interior is luxurious.
